Stupid Duraspark box in my J10 crapped out on me while I was up town today. Had to have the wife come get me so I go home and get tools and rob the one out of my Wagoneer. What a PITA. The thing is, if the board wasn't potted in epoxy, I have little doubt that I could fix the damn thing for $5 and a few minutes time. All those Delco points distributors I have laying around are starting to look mighty good.

Yankow, the Rogue I DD'd for four+ years still had points. Never an issue.

Here's a tidbit of useless information. Wells ignition was building those for Delco back around the late 80's.

Yeah, the one that crapped out on me yesterday was 40 something years old. Trouble is that all the new replacement modules are bottom of the barrel Chinesium. But, what isn't these days?

Nice thing about the HEI modules is, they take up less room in the ol' Glove box. Or, you can carry more of them in the same space the "Junkster" module takes up, in case you get 3 or 4 bad Chinesium ones right out of the box.

Ive only had one duraspark box failure. That was back in the mid 70's when my car just went out of warranty. Odd failure too. Only after the first 10 minutes of driving, the tach dropped to zero and spark quit. I'd coast off to the side and leave the key on for about a minute. Car restarted and you could go all day unless you shut it off and it cooled. Then start the process over.
