Well, that kinda sucked. I'm doing some renovations on the new place, part of which included pulling up some subflooring upstairs. At any rate, I misstepped, lost my footing and went through the ceiling. Not realizing where exactly I was, I just stayed loose figgering I would land on the first floor. Nawp. I landed in freakin' basement. I was exactly over the stairway to the basement, bottom most step. Amazingly, aside from some scuffs and a big bruise on the left side of my ass, I wasn't hurt. However, as time goes by, I am getting a little stove up in my upper back, legs, and wrists. It's a good thing I'm in fairly good shape and only weigh about 160. Having good sturdy boots on probably helped too. First thing I did after realizing I wasn't dead and didn't have any compound fractures, was to go to the fridge and get a beer. After I went back down to the basement to retrieve my tape, I went up and measured the drop; 15 feet, nine inches. Dayum.

Dammit man. You’ll be pretty jacked tomorrow. Better look up a chiropractic clinic just in case. Take it easy.

I ain't feelin' so tough today, however, I did get back to work and finish tearing up the subfloor upstairs where our new bedroom and closets will be. I slept almost all day yesterday, went to bed at about 9:30 and slept off and on until almost 9:00 AM. I'm slow and gimpy, but getting some work done.

Ouch! The falling part is easy. It is the sudden landing that sucks.

I think the whole thing sucks. I have to make a repair on the roof of my small barn and it's only about 10 or 12 foot high. I am afraid to even do that because of how steep the roof is. For me a fall like that doesn't end with a bounce, it ends with a splat! Glad you were able to walk it off, but it might have some reoccurring pains associated with that fall. I know I am not the youngest one in this group, but I am definitely not the oldest. I'd hate to think what a drop like that would do to me..

It's funny, for outdoor stuff over a certain height, or steep roof pitches, I'll rent a lift. This time, I just found the right (wrong) spot where the joist spacing went from 12" to 24" and just happened to be over the basement.
