I'm kinda startin' to like them Ferds. 7.60s with a 440" small block. Just imagine what could be done with a 385 series motor.

imho A small block Ford is really the only "small block" since it has a 8.2" Block Deck Height... Everyone else's is about 9 inches... if I gots my chit straight... Those mid-to-late 60's Ford GT40's that kicked LeMans ass were Ford 289 Powered were they not ? That small Block Ford is pretty amazing... When I saw loose SBF Parts, Crank, Block, etc long ago at a friends, I was amazed at the size (how small)...

IIRC, a 289 is about 80lbs or so lighter than a 283 Chevy. SB Fords are really compact. IMO, the only true "big blocks" are Chevy Mark IV/V and Ford 385 series. I guess Ford industrial V-8s count too.

Yes, the 289/302 engines are the 8.2" deck height and very small. The 351W engine like mine is based on were 9.5" deck. The Yates NASCAR stuff awhile back were 9.2" deck to help shorten the intake runner length and were a good in-between compromise, kinda the best of both worlds (alot like our AMC's )

You need to get that to the track pronto!!! It looks too nice to be a racecar, it needs some abuse to make it legit. LOL

My first car was a 67 mustang fastback. I bought it as a rolling chassis. It came with three disassembled 289 engines and a short block in the engine bay. Being young and optimistic, i enlisted a freind to help me remove the engine. He got the front and i got the rear. I straddled the engine with my feet on the frame and he stood on the front bumper and we lifted it out and set it on the drivers fender. It dented the fender a little. It seemed pretty heavy but we were 170 lb kids.

Good thing that Ferd isn't an AMC. It's so nice, it might take all of Show Car Tony's future Trophies off of him.

I'd like to check and adjust the alignment this weekend and get the brake proportioning set up, so I'll need a country backroad to cruise down. No Sesame Street Outlaw type passes, just an easy cruise to make sure it drives straight. If only I knew someone who lived in the country, maybe just south of Blissfield MI with no neighbors...
