8. 390/401 Jeep Guy: Ready to assemble. I guess I need to get a hold of this fellow. I haven't heard from him in a couple of years now... 55. MySC/360...360. Ready to be cleaned up for me to assemble. My Superblockcleaner (FarmGuy3) is MIA... 59. 401_1974_Javelin_: 401. Oiling to the distributor gear corrected. Short block assembled. Ready to sort out the timing cover and remote oil filter system. 62. Rick's429: Needs block prep work.... whenever 63. LC390stocker: Ready to put on the starting stand to fire the mutha up! 65: MC390: ’70 390 AMX. Street/show build. Back from the Machine shop ready for the block cleaner. 66. RR290: bone stock 290 for ’66 Rogue Convert. Needs disassembled. 67. Weisco401 - Ready to clean and assemble. 68. BE390: At the machine shop.
59. 401_1974_Javelin_: 55. MySC/360...360. This was a NOS block that was left in a shed on a dirt floor. It has been to the strip tank but still needs lots of attention....
FarmGuy3 is not MIA. Farmguy3 was quite fatigued after another 11 hour shift at his place of employment. So fatigued in fact, that even a day later, he continues to refer to himself in the 3rd person! And also, this NOS 360 evidently was also buried in steer shit while being stored on the barn floor. It may take a few minutes to get it puff........
Kinda cool. We found the stamped numbers on my 360 Service block. There is nothing special about the block except for the numbers *S 33705 74*. This is the second Service block that I have worked on. The other one was a '70 390 with these numbers stamped on it *3C962 70*. I assume that the last two digits designate the year the block was machined.
59. 401_1974_Javelin_: Some pictures of the Bulltear remote oil filter system. I had to resurface the oil pumper cover plate and in doing so, I took off the plating. I never liked the idea of the nickel-type of plating or the on that surface. Whatever has worn off has gone through the engine. At least with the bare aluminum, it is a softer material. The plated timing cover is shot too. I will be using a good used stock one as a replacinment. Unfortunatly, both of the covers have a chamfer at the oil pump cover surface. I don't know why people do that.. I guess they want less oil pressure...

8. 390/401 Jeep Guy: Ready to assemble. I am the proud owner now. I may build this as a '70 390 depending what someone wants. 55. MySC/360...360. BE390Mess: Back from the machine shop. $1,500.00 on top of what he has paid the last machine shop for the work that they didn't do correctly. 69. Jeep360: New one in to build. Needs more power.
Kinda hard to make any progress when I spend most of my time in Mexico these days...
Well, I wish I could have hung with a few Mexican AMCers while I was there.. Maybe next time. Progress:69. Jeep360: New one in to build. Needs more power. Disassembled and at the Machine Shop. Pistons on order. Typical oil feed to the mains were only about 70% through. Typical crud in the water jackets. The machinists will clean some more out and I will clean some more out when he is done with it. The engine had a little blow by issue. I could only find a half a ring for #2 piston. The bottom end of the engine has never been apart. All of the bearings have the AM logo and are dated '71. The engine was built in '71 for the '72 model year. The goal is to build it with 9.7:1 compression ratio, a ISKY270HL cam, and Air Gap intake. NeJoe (the Carburetor Whisperer) will building a carb for it.

Judging by all the divots in the top of the piston, it was chunked up and went out the exhaust valve. The heads were off of the engine once. Maybe they thought a valve job would take of things..
It was kinda cool to walk in to the Machine shop yesterday.. The first thing Chuck said was "Where the hell have you been, you mad at me or something!?" I had to explain the whole going to Mexico for the last 4 months thing. I will take a couple more engines over for him to machine up and then he will be back to complaing about the shit I bring him again.. and then proceed to do them.

kenco18: Years ago,I,worked in a machine shop/Auto Parts store. They had. Pair of AMC heads there that I was tiled were for a 304. They had a strange block in the intake runner that I never saw before or since. Does anyone know what these heads were out of?
