Im in the same boat. I used to have a bunch of those. But when someone brings you an “ engine” to rebuild, they always tear them apart themselves and seem to lose everything smaller than a cylinder head. So you end up chipping in most of the “ insignificant parts”. I dont think thats rambler mentality. Not sure what you might call it. I know a lot of people like that. Always buggin me about the little shit they throw away thinking dumb thoughts like “ oh its just a bolt” or “oh everyone has a jillion of those ...just toss it” Yeah guess what bucko you are wrong. A car is made out of 80 percent “insignificant” yet not easy to find shit you will never find after you fling it in the trash. Yeah thats my pet piss off.

Luckily, I keep pretty much everything. Looks like I'll to contribute a couple of parts to the cause. Of course, you don't need a pump eccentric if you just shitcan that old junk and use a 1960's tech electric fuel pump.

Well it is kinda handy for correctly spacing the distributer gear on the cam.

Same as me Spud, I acquired a few torn apart engines over the years and it seems that all of the special AMC only parts are missing. Fuel pump accentrics, oil slingers, Cam washers, power steering stud, and short head bolts of all stupid things. I am going to scrap out a couple of 304's just to get those parts and the crank to rebuild 360's with.

People blow it every time. They bring you the same sad shit. A pair of heads, one is cracked. A block that was in great shape till they set it under the downspout and let it rust. A crank that was awesome on every journal except the rear main that set on the concrete rusting. and the seven rods and pistons... oh yeah and the pistons were a nice fresh set of forged ones you cant get anymore...What about the important shit? You know the shit that WASN’T fucked up? The shit you cant hardly find? The shit you gotta have to build the engine with? Yeah i tossed it in a bucket. Yeah buckets are good for that. They also fill up with rain or rat piss or drunk buddy piss ... here we go again. Another wasted amc engine... good parts rotten from years of waiting... the “ little” stuff trashed. Happens every time. I literally could tell the tale of dozens of engines with similar aggravating stories on their way to the scrapheap.

I must be one of the few with a box of plastic sandwich bags and a marker in the garage for small parts. Larger items not going back on get an old school wire tied tag.

How come your engines seem to run so much nicer than other "builders" I see?
