Hola,
Joined a month or so ago...I'm too lazy to post much though.
Always been around AMC's. Between the old man and me with have a fleet of 72/73 Ambo's/Matadors and a handful of 70 AMX/Javelins. Most everything has been sitting for years and figured it was time to get some of the old AMC's running again. Usually do most of my own work. Had success installing the elusive dip stick tube and all but by know means an expert.
Current project is a 70 AMX. Was supposed to be a dust it off, flush the fuel system, slap in some bearings and see what happens kinda deal that back fired. We've had the car since 81/82. Never ran quite right and the brakes where a nightmare (mismatched parts), so it got parked.
Got it running in 98. Life got busy so back to the barn.
Dug it out again in 08 and freshened up the top end and sorted out the brakes...drove it a bit and got a rod knock & it was again, parked.
Keeping with the 10 year cycle, dug it back out and started the rebuild. Plan is to leave the int/ext alone and fix the mechanical stuff and just drive it some. Its a decent 10 footer.
SC397 is putting the motor together (first motor that I have had someone else build but sounds like it's in good hands).

Installing that Dipstick tube is a great accomplishment. Esp if you didn't have to go through 10 of them and 3 38 page threads to do it. lol
Welcome aboard!

Got a 77 hornet amx drag car. Built a bunch of engines, transmissions and rear ends for folks all over north texas. Affilated with north texas amc club but not an active member.

Possibly, don't remember you but I have an old BSO MD that I screwed up royally. We caged the car and set the engine back roughly 10". Worked well for a while but destroyed a good car.

That was it. You also had a firebird. I seem to recall a pretty nice 70 amx, bso, 360 4 speed. Musta been near 20 years ago. I have whats left of a a dark blue donahue. Someone left it in a hayfield with the drivers window down for a decade or so. 360 auto. I have rebuilt the drivetrain but shy away from replacing the rotted floorpan.

I do remember someone having a dark blue MD. Small worlds & it had to be at least 20 years ago.
Don't envy the floorpan.
The Firebird is still sitting in the same place, so is most everything in the barn for that matter. I'm slowly piecing the BSO AMX back together.
Sent you a PM with contact info.

Welcome to the board. Instead of an AMC club, we need a 'Hello, I too have way more ambition than time or money' club.

But that would be too close to admitting there might be a problem!
