Its more than half a turn, but less than 5/8 a turn… open. Edelbrock pn 1905, thunder series 650 avs-2. The mixture screws are a approximatly 1/2 turn open. It idles around 14 to 1, at about 500-550 rpm.

I finally had time to replace the water pump in my Daughter's Javelin. My Girlfriend wants to be part of the Dream Cruise this weekend so I had a goal to get it done since the Breedlove car is gone. Again, I had forgot how fun it is to drive these AMC cars. Not the fastest but it feels fast and will burn up the tires at will. Plus, it can cruise at 70+ all day long. I actually may just drive the bitch to Kadova this year..

I have put 22,000 miles on the 304 since i installed it. Its almost my daily driver. I just bought some procar series 90 seats for it. Looking for a better back condition after those long drives. I’m not sure what the current seats came from. They are not bad but really lack lower back and lumbar support. Just another needed upgrade for the ancient old relic. The new qft 450 is really earning its keep. I dont have it tuned in very good but its delivering a very stable af ratio and milage is not any worse. I hope for an improvement once i get it dialed in. The 450 is delivering even more low end torque than the 650 avs2. Pretty happy with it in spite of the calibrations, which really sucked on my 304. But its getting there. Not sure what has changed but i’m getting some full throttle pinging, could be the hot weather, could be poor fuel, but it needs a retune on the spark now. Its an eternal tuneup. I dont have OD but i generally turn 2100-2300 at cruise speed of around 65 mph with 2.87’s and 255/60r15 rubber. 2.87’s are awesome cruise gears, very happy with them untill i want to really blaze up the 304, at that point i miss the 3.15’s…the 3.15s generally turned 2400-2600 at cruise. I’m gonna try the 3.15’s in the roadkill javelin with a tkx . I forget the od ratio, i think .78. Roadkill is going to be the uglier sportier fun road javelin. Its been so hot i havent worked on it at all since spring. I got rain last night. First rain since april. I dont guess a bunch of cars will show for cordova, or and amc meet for that matter, but i do bet not hardly any drive there AND race. I always get sidetracked and go different directions. I have been trying to get more efficiency out of my machine. I dont know if i have helped or hurt performance because i havent been to the track since spring sometime. I have learned considerably on the torqueflite. They can be a challenge to tune. I still am not satisfied with it. I might want better function than the unsophisticated hydraulic controls can give. Curious as to how the overdrive conversion worked out on the project trans sc397 was involved with

Actually, the Kenosha show set records. I have heard number of cars at over a thousand. There were 250 parts vendors. Detroit wasn't bad considering it was just after Kenosha. I expect a good turnout for Cordova myself.

Hey spud, how many 290s, 304s, 360s, and 401s would it take to trade you out of that TKX?

Hey spud, how many 290s, 304s, 360s, and 401s would it take to trade you out of that TKX? I dont know. Depends on condition i guess. Assumably about 3000 $ worth. Got any good usable 70 304 heads? I can turn those into cash and get you started on your tkx fund. And anyways Summit will finance and set you up with monthly payments. No need to procrastinate .

I have a set of 1970 360 heads, rebuilt with Chevy 2.05"/1.65" valves, Comp or Crane springs, retainers, locks, new guides and seats. Plus I have the '70 short block with new rings and bearings in it, .010/.010 crank, Edelcock performer cam. It has '74 401 heads on it, but I think I'm gonna yank those and put them in place of the '70 heads on my Rebel. I have a 290, a 304, several 360s, six 401s. The last thing I need to do go into debt, but my CC through my credit union probably has a way better rate than Scummit's in house credit.

Well i got some seats in. I bought a set of scat procar rally smoothbacks and a pair of procar pro-90’s. I really didnt know what would feel or fit better, so i bought both to try out. I figure i can use the other pair in roadkill. I like the looks of the pro-90s for classic musclecar look. I have tried the rallys out before , klvn8r has a pair in his javelin. They are nice seats as i remember. For the money scat seats are a great deal. So one thing thats not so great is they come in one size. Small. If you have a big ass you dont want scat seats. The pro 90’s are a little smaller than all the other models in respect to short from the backrest to the knees. They are ok, but not what you are used to in terms of the big plush oem buckets of today. But much better in terms of ergonomics of the old buckets of the musclecar era. The pro 90 is a great fit for my dimensions and has a bit better lumbar support than the rally seat. The rally is the kind of seat you sit more IN and not so much on. I’m trying the pro 90s in the eternal. They are a little less confining so a bit more comfortable and better back support, in my case. Both styles are 24 lbs each, so thats about 20 lbs lighter than my old seats. The amc specific brackets were approx 90 bux each. So i made my own brackets. The sliders have some functional glitch, i cant get them to release both sides, i looks like hole placement for the crosswire is a problem. I will experiment with that and get it sorted out. Nice seats and pretty cheap, made in malaysia, but looks like decent quality and a confortable seat with great support. I have never had a nice seat in any amc ever. The best seat i have is one i got from a peterbuilt truck and fabbed up a mount years ago. These seats are a well deserved upgrade. I was actually considering recaros but the price was pretty high and it seemed like a lot of money to spend on the kind of rickety drivers i have.

Ok i guess sometimes i buy shit just to try shit. The price on everything keeps going up and up. I think china joe is doing it to make me buy more chinese shit. So i bought a speedmaster billet amc distributer from summit. Why you say? Cuz it looks just like the summit brand distributer that just went way up in price, now 230$. And the msd is now 424$. The msd ready 2 run is a horsechoking $569 !!! The speewhacker is a paltry 85$. I couldnt resist that kind of cheap so i got one. I tell ya its exactly like the summit. The same chicoms must make it. 85 bux is cheap. Msd wants 87 bux for a distributer gear. I’m gonna try it. And you know i wont just keep it waxed on my dq cruiser. I’m gonna see if it is junk, cheap junk or cheap good junk. Spudlabs hammers this shit so you the amc consumer can waste your hard wasted money confidently! And just so you know, the summit distributer has racked over 2000 miles on it with no troubles. The gear is ok! I also bought a PRW amc hi volume water pump. Its not that cheap, 155 $. Its based on the commong ghb or gbh or whatever the fuck aluminum housing but has a heavy duty 3/4” shaft and bearing, cast iron hi efficiency impeller and cromoly fan mount flange. I dunno if i need any of that but the hi flow hi pressure part i do need. I’m gonna try all this stuff out on a new 304 if it ever gets finished. Also bought a PRW external balance ( 401 weighted) sfi spec hd flexplate, a nuetral balance sfi flexplate, ( 95 bux for either) and some king alecular aluminum bearings ( cheaper and more available than clevites) all of which is new to me to flog relentlessly. Or eternally. Whichever. Whatever. Spud’s eternal javelin is testing amc crap all day every day in severe conditions with a monkey at the controls!

I ordered a prw 2330441 “ sportsman damper for amc” ( non sfi spec) several weeks ago. Its on backorder from prw. So i got antsy and ordered a professional products “ powerforce damper” Its on its way should show at spudlabs today. Now i ask the ever curious “amc-anons” to study closely the online pics of these units… do they look like identical units to you? They do to me. If my prw part ever shows up, i will do an extensive forensic anal-isis on them ( look at em) and see if they are from the same manufacturer( in china) and i have both “ kinds” to try on similar 304’s to see which one flies apart first. Just another real world real life practical test of chicom amc junk to further the interests of the discerning amc junk consumer🤣 i buy this crap and torture test it so you can watch it explode … or not.. whatever😂

What are you using for refrigerant in the A/C in your Javelin? R12, or something else?
