Thats pretty cool. Interested in what your doing to the front suspension. I cut the sprig cup piece that threads onto the trunnion and made a coil over shock mount out of it. Made another shock mount for the top that bolts through the original spring seat area. Then made a new strut rod and mount to relocate the strut rod to the front to make more room for headers. Then made an additional bracket with holes and welded it to the knuckle to mount the spindle 2-1/2" higher to lower the ride height.

I’m very interested in trunion suspension upgrades. I would like to have a fabricated upper a arm with ball joint like the guy on the other forum does (dairyland fabrication). Have you seen his design? I am on his waiting list... however patience is not one of my strengths. Im thinking about options. You got an intetesting option idea right there. I do like the concept of an adjustable upper, so caster can be increased and have a greater range of adjustment for hi speed stability and anti dive when the brakes are on. I have been looking at some pieces from day racing to try and find some pre bent dom tubing to do some on my own. I’m kinda hesitant to make my own suspension parts... but considering how unsophisticated the stock stuff is i wonder how bad i could mess it up? I dont have a heliarc and dont wanna die due to my shitty mig welding😟

I am trying to keep this as cheap as possible and original too. I already have a race car that went overboard. And I thought being able to say it still had a trunnion front suspension was kinda neat.
Yea, I adjusted the top A arm bolts for the most caster I could get, probably about 1 or 2 degrees. LOL Not ideal but I will run with it and see what happens.

im plenty into cheap. The dairyland mod isnt real cheap. Im also into a chassis that is not prone to spontaneous trips to places i dont wanna go😕.

Looking good so far Kevin. I have a nice pair of 26"X4.5" M/T ET Fronts you are welcome to if you need a taller tire up front.

And at this point I will probably just swap them to the car that needs them to race. Cheap ass I am. LOL The Gremlin is up on stands 99% of the time so why not?

I grew up in those Ramblers. My dad traded 2 v-8 hardtops for a new 73 Hornet(ended up being my first car). I barely remember them though as I was born in 68. Always heard stories from my brothers about them. Came home from the hospital in one too I'm told. He died in 79 and I guess the reason i'm out of control with the cars is a tribute to him I suppose. And I miss him. Anyway glad to see this project. Keep it low maintenance and have some fun.

It's all retaliative. Just a bracket racer using mostly old race car parts to me. I think it will be a low 9 second car when sorted out. The engine will be about the same as the original in the Gremlin. That was 40ci bigger and ran 8.40s at 2750 pounds. This should be around 2900 pounds.

Mid plate is done. It also serves as an adapter plate for the bell housing. And the cam belt drive plate is also done. Next step is to put the rear end housing under the car to confirm ladder bar bracket placement before welding.
