I bought this thing on Mother's day. Save the Whales type of thing I guess. 1981 6 cyl auto that won't idle... Just want to get it running right and find a new home for it after driving it to and from work for the summer. The AMX on the trailer is another project that I don't need. Coworker's Son who has never had one before with a list of issues that need fixed. Are all of these hoses that I pulled of the Cord important? I didn't think so...

Well.. the pile did get a little bigger but, she now runs like she is suppose to! Almost.. Now I know why I saved my '78 Cord carb. Made one out of the two with a $18.00 carb kit. Now to fix the rocker arm cover leak with a $45.00 gasket, fix the exhaust leaks and a set of BFG's on some Spirit AMX wheels and we are on the road again.. Lee (71sc360) you can have it for what I have in to it when the time comes : ) Oh and, Love the Fabulous HudHornet!
I managed to talk myself out of another project the other day. What a relief that was.

At least it looks a little better to me with the tire and wheel change. The carb still needs some work but I have one coming from AMCInstigator. The idiots put 4 cyl brake rotors on it so, we have a real interesting wear patten on the pads. Ordered new parts through Rockauto. 71sc360-I want to get it drivable etc and then we will talk price. So, Reb, what did you pass on? Inquiring minds...
It wasn't an AMC project, but a small four-wheeel ATV. I prolly would have bought it, but the guy had worked on it first and he struck me as being less than competent to turn wrenches. BTW, that Concord doesn't look half bad.

So.... Sitting out at Rick's tonight(just because), and we started looking at this car. Rick had gotten a carb sent to him from Osama bin Rambler in Minnesota, but still just could not get this thing to run right. No real surprise, I had 3 Eagles and couldn't get the damned carbs to work for me, either. Well, he also had this ridiculous adapter he had got from someone's 401 that had a 2 barrel carb on it(don't even ask why, I'm as baffled as you). 1 ridiculous adapter + 1 390 cfm Holley 4 barrel + 2 Farm Guys + beer + tequila = 1 Extremely Smooth Running Concord! Also a big shout out to Nebraska Joe(The Carburetor Whisperer). We put this thing on and it fired immediately, adjusted absolutely nothing! Car runs beautifully....

Nice carb upgrade. There are enough hoses and wires underhood for two or three cars. :-)

When I was a kid, my dad had an International pickup that was powered be an AMC 258. It was so quiet and smooth, you could just about stand next to it and not know it was running. It also had so little power that you would wonder if it was running.

Other than getting 13 mpg on the first tank, it seems to run OK.. The timing chain slap is getting worse now for some reason. Waaaaaaaay past time for a new one. Click on it

kenco18: Years ago,I,worked in a machine shop/Auto Parts store. They had. Pair of AMC heads there that I was tiled were for a 304. They had a strange block in the intake runner that I never saw before or since. Does anyone know what these heads were out of?
