OK so I am amazed as you are that the "Screw Extractor" actually worked... This glob of chit in the oil galley probably wouldn't hurt anything over time... Here is another batch of crap that I dug out of the block. Missed it by that much... Oil hole from the cam to the oil slot in the timing chain gear is not even close. I can't believe it didn't smoke a dizzy gear. Re-drilled and tapped the internal oil line ports and added the extra drain back holes. Now the block is ready for the hot tank.

I learned that trick from my old timer engine machinist. It works slick and hardly heats up the block at all.

Drug home another one to put back on the road again. FarmGuy3 and myself did the body work and paint on this one back in 1989. The owner showed it for a couple of years then pulled the engine and trans (390 auto) to detail it. It never got done and he has since passed away. Long story short, his nephew has the car and he wants me to get it road worthy again.

Great looking car! I've always been fond of the BB colors. I've owned a BBB 69 AMX, a BBO 69 Javelin and a BBG 70 Javelin. Of the three the BBG 70 Javelin was in the nicest condition. Unfortunately it was stripped and didn't have any paperwork. I ended up cutting it up for sheet metal.

Back on the BBO AMX: Re-sealed the T10 yesterday. The side cover had no gasket at all, just a little clear sillycone. Nice job guys. It looks like the input shaft had a little issue one time or another. It has been welded up and ground back down. I had to pull the tail shaft off to put a new spedo gear on and also put a new yoke bushing and seal in. Spent like a hour reworking the stupid early shifter so that it didn't feel like a slosh bucket. Someone had left a couple of bushings off of the shifter handle itself.. It will never be as good as a Hurst but it is a hell of alot better...

I can't imagine what someone did to that input shaft to require welding on it. Just crazy what some people do to stuff.

Usually the pilot bearing goes out and the shaft wobbles and rubs on the bearing retainer, probably not a huge deal.

I think that the old style shifter is suppose to have a rubber grommet or something to secure the bolt in so that it is not so sloppy. Hopefully, this Nylon bushing from a Hurst shifter kit will fix it.

Yes, I thought SC360 ( Joe) had that bush for sale on the light blue balls forum? I didn't have any of those bushings. They are very hard to find. Rick's solution looks like a pretty good one. Probably won't feel quite as sloppy with the nylon one compared to the original rubber ones.

Making those bushing would take about 10 minutes, if you took your time. Not exactly the hardest thing to remake. At least in nylon, brass, aluminum, or steel. Rubber is another story.
