Came out quite well. My 70 Ambassador spent a good part of it's life in So. Cal, so the interior cloth and carpet went from green to a sort of beige. While the seats were at the reupholsterer, I was going to replace the carpet but wasn't feeling too confident of aftermarket fitment, So I experimented first with Rit fabric dye in a carpet shampoo machine. Figured most I'd lose was 12 bucks in materials. I was surprised that it actually put back about 30+ years of color. I didn't feel as bad cutting the hole for the 5 speed in a 50 year old carpet.

Shouldn't you have done a rubber mat?

I didn't even think anyone reproduced the old mats except for maybe an old pick em'up truck

The bar is easily stepped over Chuck, even an old invalid like you can make it!
Start to finish was about 10 plus hours but that included cleaning up and painting the seat mounting points and hardware, taking apart the communications tower to radius and clean up the aluminum mounting brackets etc. I think my next task will be taking off the sill plates, trying to take a few dents etc out and then trying to polish them up a little.
