I dont get all the fanfare about any assumed limited production car. I say buy a chassis and make it whatever you want it to be. Sc hornet? Who cares . Buy a six banger and 401 it. Thats what i did to my 77 hornet amx. Some amc douche tried to bust me down for butchering a” low production valuable collector amc” i just laughed at him. I think they made a helluva lot more 77 amx hornets than gaymc thinks. And gaymc dont give a fuck about em anyways. Its all sc360 hornets. I garantee amc threw a helluva lot more one of parts and trim and complete interiors into the hornet amx’s and they are the red headed bastards of gaymc collectors.

I like the SC/360. To me, the Concord AMX is the red headed step child of the AMX world. Like the Hurst SC/Rambler, at least the 77 Hornet AMX marked the end of a model name. According to the information that I could find, they made 784 SC/360's, 3,196 Hornet AMX's with a 6 cylinder, 2,011 Hornet AMX's with a V8, and 1,931 Concord AMX's. There are a couple more rare AMC's that I like which rarely get mentioned which include the '71 Matador Machine, '72 Hornet Rallye, and '78 Gremlin GT.

I also prefer to buy the cheaper chassis and make it what I want as well.
The collector cars are cool too. Just out of my realm.

I need to go thru my old magazines. I seem to remember a write up about a Brown 73 Hornet that came factory with a 360.

I need to go thru my old magazines. I seem to remember a write up about a Brown 73 Hornet that came factory with a 360. In 1973, I remember my Uncle saying that he could order one for me. There was no way I could afford a new car then but it would have been cool to have one. barnfinds.com/360-equipped-1973-amc-hornet-x-hatchback/

I bought the all original 73 Hornet X that John Rosa had. It was a factory original 360, 2bbl car. I sold it after a few years because I was a little disappointed in the car and didn't want to take away from its originality to wake it up. I know there's a lot that could have been done but I also owned an original 73 Javelin with a 304, 2bbl that drove and had a way better driveability to it than the Hornet....

Cool pix.... Anyone have any other vintage pix of SC/360's? Nope, I only found these on a local track page. I thought it was cool the original owner came on and posted.

I bought my 77 hornet amx as junk. It ran but the little ford 4 speed was total junk. It had no forward speeds. The car was a package deal, snd came with a ih 401/ 727 from a dump truck and a bunch of parts in the trunk including trw 390 pistons, a couple torkers, a few sets of heads, all manner of 727 guts, i forget what all. The car was in fair shape but had set for many years. Apparantly it was driven for years by s very overweight person as the drivers seat was broken and flattened out and the springs on the drivers side were wasted. I bought it from a freind dho never got around to it. I have the title but have never driven it on the street as i built it for racing.
