I'll try this again. Lost the whole thing the first time. I finally gathered the ambition to drag my old J10 out of the weeds (under cover and out of the weather for the most part). Even after sitting for 9 years, the old girl fired right up when I filled the fuel bowl with gas. I'm starting to love the AMC V-8 again. After dragging it out far enough to air up the tires, I drove up the shop. New filters, some fuel line, and fresh gas, she actually runs pretty good. I had actually forgotten how torquey and responsive a stock 401 can be. Kind of impressive in a 4500lb truck. I'll pressure wash/wash the outside tomorrow, and clean the seats and get them ready to go back in. The carpet was junk, but I have some sound deadening rubber floor mat material that is used in excavators and loaders that will do pretty nicely. I can't wait to see what is hiding under the headliner.

Yep, my 304 could sit for years, and always fired right up.

There is no feeling like getting in my old amc and driving it around. I tell ya itsa real escape from the madness of 2021 just slamming the door shut and firing it up and hearing it and smelling it and blasting off and forgetting the here and now. Thats how it works for me.

I sure like the boxy lines of those trucks. They just look tough!

The big challenge will be to avoid Barting it. LOL. Just finish one thing before starting another. Dont think resto. Just wash it off and start to use it. Once your using it it , actually taking it apart and out of commission is a harder choice.

Drive it and enjoy. They all don't have to be perfect.

Seems like a lot of work Reb, you should just give me the truck.. My son keeps saying the same thing. I'm definitely not going to restore it at this time.

A vehicle used occasionally and cared for will rot a lot slower than one left alone.

They weren't that solid when they were 2 years old around these parts.

Drive that thing as it sits, you won't have to worry about paint when you're driving through the zombies

True dat, dreamer!
I suspected that the headliner was full of mouse nest, and pulling it down delivered a foot high pile of that nasty shit on the floor of the truck. This is one time you'll catch me wearing a dust respirator. Now I have figger out how to fix the headliner. It has a square foot area that is thin as rice paper. BJ's has new ones for $270 plus tax. I guess I'll spray glue some kind of backer board to it, and paint the facing side with texture paint and call it good.

I’d do that and call it perfecto.old cars are old cars and more fun not resto’d. I would do a comet polish on it. You will be amazed.
