Thank you for the offer, but it'll just end up sitting by the cam for years.

Well I drove the new beast up to and back from the Pure Stock Drags today. The spedo doesn't work, the tach, doesn't work and the gas gauge doesn't work but I drove it anyway. 85 degrees both windows down and it was hot but fun nonetheless. I took the eway on the way there and was zinging it pretty well for a couple of hours. I kept it at about 68 mph and had no idea what rpm's I was turning beside a lot. (3.54 gear) Used the GPS to tell me what speed I was running. Of course everyone was passing me. Had a few thumbs up. Watched n2ojoe run a few time trials, conversed with other gear heads and then started the venture home. I went the long way at 55-58 mph and made it back to Margaritaville in 3 1/2 hrs. My ass was sore, I was hot and sweaty but didn't care. Got freshened up with a couple of Margys and headed the last half hour to home. Great air tonight, the 'ol 360 can still bark them in all gears. Man a T10 4 speed is so much fun to drive. I need to get my SC/Rambler back on he road again..

No gas gauge, speedo or tach? You're pretty damn picky

I'm kinda glad you didn't have a speedo, and even gladder there were no speedo pictures. Sounds like a great day, I'm very envious

I feel your amc joy rick. I flog that 304 420 miles worth every other weekend. The most fun i have these days is the noise, discomfort and stress of a nice 210 mile evening drive in my amc javelin.

On the AMC joy note... I drove the silver clunker into San Antonio last night. Roughly 100 mile round trip.
First time out of the neighborhood with it. Did surprisingly well. All the lights and gauges worked (rare on any of my cars), ran and stopped like it should, cruised 70 down the highway just fine until one of the ram air scoops popped off and flew over the roof!!!
Still a success and had a blast. Now it's time to get the BSO 70 AMX with the engine Rick built back on the road.

The car just jettisoned unnecessary weight.

That it did... but it could of jettisoned anything other than original ram air pieces!

I loved driving my AMX when I first got it on the road in 2011. The more I showed it the more I was hesitant to just drive it. There was just too many distracted drivers and debris on the roads. The cop car is my cruiser cruiser now, I'm not worried about it at all, in fact it sat outside on my driveway for almost a month and a half! I'm envious of you Rick (and others here) for having VERY cool cars that you're not afraid to drive.

Its a roadkill special Rick. A good machine to play with. Fix it up a little at a time , kinda like my eternal javelin project. Something that eternally needs this or that. Eternally needs you to come out of the house and tinker with. Never a show car, never a trailer queen, never a race car, always a fun car. Eternally needs a resto, a paint job, a lot of money, bugs cleaned off the windows, the fuel filled, stuff like that. The idea is its good. It doesnt need you to fix it so much it becomes garage art. Granted it sucks to hit a groundhog in a 70 amx, but it sucks to hit one in anything.

Oh thats just daydreaming. I do that all the time. It just takes a lot of nerve to actually order the part and live with buyers remorse. Why you think about it is to figure out that overdrive will leave you with a tiny driveshaft. Go for the tremec tkx instead. I wish mine would get here! Besides its cheaper than the o.d. The tkx has a optional shifter location thats pretty close to that stock amx location… the tkx is the best thing yet! Boop on over to silver states website and daydream some more.
