I"ve had this old Stewart Warner Vacuum gauge laying around the shop for ages. Bought it off ebay many moons ago. No clue what it is out of but looks cool as all get out ( somebody told me once it was out of a post war International big truck but no way to confirm) 3 3/8", curved glass, big art deco numbers white on black background. Long story longer.... I got the bug to put it in old Hudson. Went in easy as pie. ( That should have been the clue something was wrong!!!) Started up the old girl and nothing... After a few minettes the needle started moving up got up to a tad over 18 but wont drop down when I hit the gas. Goes down to zero slow when I shut off the mill. To my untrained mind it acts like the mechanism inside is gummed up with old oil or grease. Any ideas how to free it up short of sending of to a pro to give it a rebuild?

Take it apart and clean the goo out, I suppose. Or better yet, get Rick to do it.
