Had one Crap out on Dad's LTD. Wonder if it's the same issue as Slowpar. Mag pickup goes bad, starts eating boxes. I know Dad did replace everything together and it lasted till he ditched the Car. We had a 72 Imperial that ate Boxes about every year. Then when I got the Car I rebuilt the whole "Dizzy" and the box lasted till I yanked the Mill 4 years later.

The one in my '78 Wag would do what LB described. Just randomly quit from time to time. Let it sit for a few, and it would fire up and run and be fine for maybe a week or two. I finally bought a new one a few years ago. I don't know how a bad mag pickup could cause boxes to fail. There's no power in there, just a hall effect sensor and a reluctor.

The problem went away once it was replaced. The Car ate a Box at least every year from 1975 to 1983 and the only change was the pickup. It ate Factory Boxes and aftermarket. No one could figure it out.

Also, I had an HEI that would make Modules backfire when you cranked open the secondaries. I ruined a couple of good modules putting them in that "dizzy." when I put the Module back in a good "dizzy" it did the same backfire. I ASSumed Mag pickup in that case as well.
I did a ton of switching parts since I had Plenty.

The Imperial had a pretty big ol' Glove Box to carry that extra Module in. lol
The Car would just die a long the road and never restart. Dad would get out, toss in the new box and away we went.

I had a couple Duraspark failures in my Falcon when it was first finished. Then I realized I did not have a proper current limiting resistor in the RUN supply line. After installing said resistor, no issues in 23 years. I do carry a spare in the trunk, just in case. And all of the modules I have came out of the junk yard.
