This car ran 10.80s N/A with 8:1. WOW Track Picture! He was wanting to go Boost. Then health issues got in the way. He's been gone 3 years now. Passed at 45. This guy must want to run 8s, since pump gas 10s are no fun.

Google is your friend then. Google those parts. Google old threads, this has been covered 10,000 times. You claim to be an Engine expert. 11.5:1 Pump gas 351W. No need to ask on the internet then. Call the Cam company talk to them. Call Edelbrock, talk to them.

Why ask when you think you know? If your gonna run pump gas …. Go ahead. Do what you want. If your gonna guess and try a higher compression ratio, be ready to join the broken piston crew. Dont ask, dont call, just figure it out yourself boy wonder. You got the answers. Dont try a proven tune either. Since you dont want that. Be exactly like all the other geniuses that cant tune an engine and ruin it on pump gas. Go ahead. “ dare to be different”. WE KNOW YOUR NOT LIKE ANYONE ELSE AND YOUR COMBO WONT RATTLE ON PUMP GAS. We got that.

Yep, stock bore, stock stroke, 454 with Edelbrock Heads. I forget the cam and intake on this one. He bought a 750 Carter off of me and was going 11.30s. Went 850 DP and 10.80s. Yep, 5/10s. Carters Suck you know what.

Lol. Carters arent the best track choice. And a 750 is kinda small for a race 454. Thats pretty good numbers for that kind of motor. No doubt a great low comp tune. Proof that compression isnt a deal breaker. I read somewhere a point of compression is worth about 4 percent in power. So going from 8.5 to 9.5 on a 400 hp engine is worth about 16 hp with no other change. Typically compression is raised as cam is increased for even more. Thats the N/A power experiment game. Lets guess his light looking pontiac camaro and him are 3200 race weight. Thats exactly 500 hp, which i would expect from a decent low comp 454. The aluminum heads make the bbc weigh what an iron sbc weighs. What can a low comp 401 do? KP did one that dyno’d 444 hp and moved his rambler into hi 10’s.

Could be, I wasn't around this car much. I was at the track when he put the Carter on. He was running 13s. The Choke wasn't wired open, so when he mashed it, it shut. I told him what was wrong, and he argued, finally he let me wire it open with a paper clip and over 2 seconds faster..... He was no tuner or builder, some of you guys on this forum woulda got that Car Soldly in the 9s with 8:1.
He found a "low mile" 454 out of a 78 Truck, Blue motor, 70,000 mile rings and bearings, slapped on out of the Box Eddys, jammed a cam in it, no degreeing, slapped the carb on as is. And that's slow Quaker. 10.50 or lower Car anywhere else. He planned on Boost, but I heard, he hit it with a 200 shot or so at Thompson, and got kicked out for running sub 10s with no cage, and sliding thru the traps backwards on his own trans fluid.... No Driveshaft loop etc. He wired tied his Fuel line to his leaf spring.
A local legend was known for hitting stock cast pistons with a 225 shot and living. He had a long time Legend from Quaker behind him, he worked for the guy, so he made sure his shit was right.....One time I talked to him, he said I should spray my Monza, I said 125 is the limit on stock pistons, he laughed in my face. Said he'd hit it with 225. So FWIW.

The thing he was tho, was a top notch driver with zero fear. He'd never put a Car in the Wall. Very handsome dude, tall, broadest shoulders I ever saw, break your cheek bone and your eye would fall out with one hit. Fought anyone, dropped all of them fast like Tyson in his prime. Banged tons of hot chicks. Lots of Strength and hand/eye off the charts.

So, that car was in a terrible state of tune, prolly buncha miss matched crap and ran like that. My wife or Kid took those pics on 10.80 day. The only two times I was at the track with him. I was raising my Son and caring for my Dad, who had a massive stroke. So track time was very rare to get. Mr Modern Super Tuning business owner over there should run 8s N/A on 8:1, since he's such an amazing Pro, with an amazing resume. Esp with all his amazing modern "Goodies" at his disposal. On a side note, KP even said the 850 was bigger than a 950 according to legend and he flowed it to show it's so....

Whats interesting about the chumps we are bagging on is that the reality is nothing really matters. They want a hp number so they can play their dq game. The really cagey lights out guys dont mind looking slow. If they can go fast with a piece of shit carb, they will. The fast guys down here try and hide with crappy black paint and odd parts. It doesnt play with real racers, who know what everyone runs, without lights or slips, they just do all that to suck in the paint and chrome clowns. Up the food chain, these guys might race for 20-30-40 k a pass. They might be playin but they aint screwin around. They just salivate over fools that show up to show off. Then they clean em the fuck out. With what probably looks like junk. Which is the greatest show on earth. The no prep 10.5 class racers are killers looking for a meal. They dont talk numbers. But they do think numbers. This kind of numbers-$$$$$$$$$$. And they put the chumps to bed. I see more and more street stock looking modern muscle running sick times. Look stock but really high power. Grudge racing for big$$$$

Secret to him beating the Rag was, they were in the Finals, which is respectable enough, but the Rag blew up mid pass.
But at the end of the day, he went home with the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
