Ok so why I hate mowers. By spud. why I hate mowers is this. Above and beyond the fact they are always broke...is the fact you cannot ever fix them correctly or for long, and even more aggravating is you cant find or get parts to fix them. where im at is a bad place. Ford new holland. Obsolete. Manufactured by kubota (I think) . Nobody claims it, a bastard child, not mine sez ford. Not mine sez new holland. Not mine sez kubota. Its got shit on it from wherever and whoever just to get it going. I swear if I EVER PAY MONEY FOR A MOWER AGAIN, I will just buy a kubota. At least they have a functional dealership and manufacture their own shit. Fuck this ford new holland sperm shot in the dark motherfucker of a bastard love child pile of might fit might work welde up and remachined twenty times piece of recycled shit.

For small equipment, Kubota is the way to go. Their only downside is that they offer zero support for gray-market machinery, which isn't as big a problem as it was back in the 80s and 90s. It's damn irritating that so many American makers were either terribly mismanaged or totally fly by night, making any of their older stuff totally obsolete because the new management has no idea about it.

Lol. Cat sells kubota. But they dont know dick about it. Teir 4 kubota burning up pistons left and right when the dpf's plug up. Nobody has a fucking clue. Costs more to repair the damages than to put a new engine in only to have it happen again. Smoked 3.3 kubotas laying all over the fucking place. People dont even know their skid steer is kubota. Cheapo cast pistons with no oil cooling jet. When the dpf gets plugged the pistons get hot and score an foof. Another happy customer. Rock on kubota. ZERO gray market support is right. But thats normal.

I have a 1998 MTD pile o' shit from Wally World. 17hp (yeah right) Tecumseh, 42" cut. I cut 4 acres for about a decade with it (lumpy old cow pasture) now I'm down to 1 1/2 acres. People can'rt believe the old pile is still going. Only thing is, under 60 degree outside you can't buy a small battery strong enough to spin it fast enough to start. So out come the jumpers cables, and bang, fires right up. Above 60, she fires right away with no help.

I'm still cutting my grass with that ancient Kohler powered Turfcat. Maybe that would be better? I keep forgetting about the new "clean idle" tier 4 crap. Cap is right, it's junk. All of it.

Tier 4 is the line I won't cross. I repair the shit for a living and know the scam. You couldnt pay me money to take one. They simply wont work for long. The cost associated with so called clean air tier 4 product is assssstronomical. Once the warranty is up the manufacturer has lost his ass a hundred times over and now the customer can feel the pain of an engine done a premature death by ridiculous emission control. I patch em up and send em out to die and die again.

Ok so I figured the scam. The part that caused the problem was the o ring between the carb body and plastic needle seat😤 I should have known I was fucked because that was the one part the "complete kit" didn't come with. So I rummaged through some o rings I hoarded and found one that fit ok. Poof mower bliss. Fanfukkintastic I bought a kit of Chinese shit for nothing. Once again a skullfucking I didn't have to take simply because I didn't troubleshoot. I just bought parts from the chi com conspiracy.

Well yay it’s once again time to rebuild the Nikki carb. The chinese communist crapolacon parts turned to black rubber goo in a year Think it would be cheaper to just run Sunoco race gas

If you have Recreational gas available near you it's the way to go for small engines and such. Around here ( Michigan ) they mark the pumps with the name Rec.90. It's 90 octane non ethanol gas with none or at least far less of the clean air chemicals that plain old 87 regular has. It's far better for long term storage like in an emergency generator. And does not seem to contribute to old style rubber carb parts going to hell in short order. I still put Sta-bil in it but it works. It's spendy stuff but to me at least worth it in the long run if you can start the generator on 1-3 tugs @ 2 am in a snow storm. For O-rings that will last longer around gasoline period figure out your size and order from McMaster-Carr. Search their site for chemical resistant o-rings and viola.... Again not cheap and some sizes come in 50's or 100's only but worth it Vs having them fuck up when you need that lil mill to run. I've also heard but never tried for myself that the green o-rings for R-134a A/c systems handle modern gas better then black hardware store o-rings. Only problem is they are not made in all the sizes. But if you had an assortment of them it might be worth a try. And for Pete's sake follow Reb's lead and get a cup holder mounted to your rig so a frosty 12oz stress reducer is close at hand....

If you have a municipal airport nearby, you can always buy avgas. It's five bucks and change per gallon here.

There is a municipal airport about ten miles from home. 5 bux a gallon is cheaper than a 65 $ five gallon can of Sunoco. By a long shot. And my jd already has a cup holder. It’s got mounts for a shade/ top thingy. Which would be very nice too. You guys bring to mind time wasted mowing grass should at least be as pleasant as possible

Beer does tend to make menial tasks more bearable. Avgas still has enough lead in it to give Al Gore a nervous breakdown.
