You going to start collecting Kelvinator appliances next?? So now that I have the Air Conditioner, Fridge, Range, Cabinets, Cupboards, Royal Crown Beer cooler, and a 50's Kitchen table (in "Cracked Ice"), I have been on the look out for some kitchen chairs to re upholster. Of course, Craigslist comes through again! Usually you can find matching sets of 2 or 3 but not too often a matching set of 4. A month ago there were a matching set of 6 listed for $125.00. SIX!! Anyway, I hemhawed around and finally sent the guy a text and was finally able to get to Dearborn to take a look at them. It was a dark and stormy night.. Really, it was last night and raining like hell and there was power outages and flooding! I am finally checking out the chairs and talking with the guy and I mentioned that I was making a Kelvinator Kitchen in my shop addition etc. He asked me what kind of cars I worked on. I told him just AMC cars and engines. He said "I used to work there!" I said "No Shit!" Then I looked around the corner in his garage and saw his wall of pride. He was asking if I knew any of the guys who worked there and I named off a couple and then I named my buddy with the last name of Cardona. Yep, he seemed to know him well. Small world. The guy doesn't belong to our local club but has a 83 Spirit that was a company owned car of some sort and a few Jeeps including a 86 Cherokee. After jawing with the guy for like 45 minutes I realized that I had my Lady friend waiting in the truck for me. As I am carrying the chairs to the truck I asked him how much do I owe him. He says "Oh hell, just make it sixty bux, ten bux a chair". I said "Wow, thanks a lot man!" I told him I would keep him up on the AMC world and shoot him a picture when the Kitchen is done. Matter of fact the electronic resto is nearly complete. Just need to go get a couple of high watt resistors that I lack in my jumble of stuff. Hopefully thursday I can make it up to the store and with the last few parts in hand have her wrapped up and ready to test this weekend. Oh and for those unfamiliar with Aussie radios. It's plain broadcast AM 550 to 1600. They just marked the dial with locations of stations as opposed to frequency numbers. So if you point the needle at NSW you'd get the station in New South Wales..... To bad Ernie Harwell is long gone to right field, it would be about perfect to relax in the Kelvinator kitchen with a cold one and Ernie calling the Tiger's game on WJR on a lazy summer afternoon.....

Well we have been doing the usual thing by working on like 8 projects at once but again, thanks to drdrunk we are making progress. The Empire - Ran like total dog shit last fall on the very day that I wanted to drive it to the Tractor Cruise In in downtown Blitzfield. Yea, we have those.. The thing was flodding it self out requiring a rebuild. The Dr, threw the rebuild kit at it and fixed the flooding issue but then it had the opposite problem. It wouldn't even run without the choke full on. Finally after dicking with it for two nights he made a special guage to set whatever the hell it was he had to set and now it runs perfect! Just in time for me to take it to the Willys Reunion this week end. The Kelvinator Tune Box - I glued the case back together, and stuck a chunk of plastic in to repair the grille so now at least it is one peice again. The Dr. has the guts cleaned up and installed the missing tubes. Now he is trying to repair the speaker. Who the hell knows if it will actually work but, we will find out. And yes.. I should be building engines and not working on my own shit, I know..

Every once in a while you gotta take a break and work on what YOU want to work on.
