So it has been a year since we worked on the beast but finally took the time to get it running right. A jet so small it took a straight pin to unplug was the issue. Now that it runs again, I am a little more inspired to play with it a little more. It still sounds a a little rattley at about 2500 rpm but I will drain the Risolone out of it, replace it with 30 weight and see what happens. AeroEngine by Rick Jones, on Flickr

That rpm notation is from my Butt Tachometer. I may be off 1 to 3 percent on that. I know one thing. The challenge is on to El Matador. Big Six against Big Six!

I keep spending time on this thing and I shouldn't be. It is taking time away from the engine building. I keep thinking, If I had just one or two more evenings I could get this thing going and stopping.. Thanks to The Dr. for his help on it this week. My goal is to have it drivable and stopable to take it to my Uncle's car show in a month. Anyway, here is the progress list: Fuel System - New lines ran from the tank to the fuel pump. New fuel pump and fuel line to the carb installed. Carb adjusted and it runs pretty dam good! Engine - Flushed crankcase and new oil installed. Brakes - Finishing up bending all new brake lines now, I have to bench bleed the new Master Cylinder and install that. Tires - Wide Whites on order. Exhaust - It has a muffler so it is ok for now however, I do have the Lake Pipes in stock.

Lake pipes add 40% more horsepower. I wonder how much horsepower it has. Are you gonna dyno it? I bet it's faster than my buddies Mustang with the Voodoo motor.

I think it is suppose to be 90 horsepower so yea man, that thing should pump out about 126 horspower after the upgrade. It may even be more cosidering that right now the pipe coming out of the manifold to the muffler is 1 3/4" and the Lake Pipes are 2" My Calibrated Butt Dyno will be pleanty close enough for the test. I am sure it is within + - 3%

Rick, I have a tire machine and electronic balancer if you don't have anyone to mount those tires.

Brake lines and fuel lines all done. Master cylinder installed and blead the brakes. We actually drove it down the road yesterday! Yea it was slightly scary.. The 50 year old tires never get round and we have some other unnerving vibrations going on. It could be the driveshaft that spins line a banana. I adjusted the brakes and we need to bleed them again as well. I will also probably throw some more steel at it here and there underneath as well. Damn the vibrations! Full speed ahead... While maybe proof that were not yet ready to join mensa, from the grins inside that old car you'd have thought they were giving away free ice cream at the local cat house...... Here's to the cheap thrills and big sixes division of the Farm Guys....
