Since it took a full bottle of wine for us to just put the hood back on that Javelin, I can't imagine why that rack won't stay stocked..

For the past 5 years or so my buddy Mr.Haney (Russ Roberts) and I travel together to Kadova for the NAMDRA now AMC Races. For years now we have said that we should stop at the Studebaker Museum on the way home sometime. So since we are both retired we talked each other in to doing it this year. We were told that they were only open on week days and we believed it. Yea, we are not too smart sometimes. So we get up on Sunday have a leasurly breakfast and headed east figuring we would find a hotel in South Bend for the night. Stopped at a Antique Store and wasted a bunch of time there before getting on the road again. Once we were on the road again Mr.Haney finds the phone number and gives them a call. Come to find out they were open on Sunday and the last tour is at 4:30. We thought cool, we can make it.... Forgetting about the time change we made our way to the museum only to miss the cut off time by 5 min. So now what do we do from 4:30 Sunday afternoon until 10:00 on Monday morning. Grab a bite to eat, find a hotel and put the lawn chairs out, that is what we do. Didn't take long and there was another pair of parking lot dwellers who happened to have a bottle of Crown with them so of course we hit it off right away. Well sometime just after dark, 4 Fire Trucks rolled in with the lights flashing and the sirens a blaring. That excitement took about a hour just to find out that someone tripped the fire alarm. Great entertainment though. Soon after that, the hotel manager cam out to see what was going on and decided to join us with his giant bottle of VO. He was off-duty but I am thinking he would have joined us regardless. Amazingly enough, he was Indian! Who would have thought!. You can imagine that by this time Russ was getting tuned up pretty well and was all about learning whatever he could about the Hotel Manager and our new friends. Somehow we got on the subject of music and the Manager broke out his Harmonica. Yes, there was alcohol involved. I went to bed sometime after midnight and I think Russ rolled in at around 2. Got up the next day and had a great day at the Museum. Well worth seeing. Dam, I forgot how good the Apricot wine is until tonight! It only took us a hour to make 4 carboys (24 bottles each) of wine tonight. left us plenty of time to sample last year's crop. We did pretty well this year. This is the second batch we have made and we should be close to 300 bottles total by winter again. Of course Obiden economics has jacked the price up. It is costing us about $3.25 a bottle now to make so we have over $300.00 invested in the 4 carboys. Yea still worth it but more expensive now.

It has been a while but for me it is time to celebrate a little bit by following a beer with a half bottle of Tequila in the form of home made Margaritas. Oh Yea! Lots of stuff going on and the big thing for me is my 397 didn't evaporate on start up. Well if it does grenade at the dyno I will still be able to save the top end which is the expensive half. LOL! Oh and here is some top secret shit going on right now too... Stickshifter is now a expert in stroking his big 6! 6 cylinder engine that is. He has torn down a variety of 4L and 258's to come up with a couple of more powerful powerplants. If he doesn't do it, I will steal some pictures and post them up. Same for n2oJoe and his Stock appearing Fast Drags engine. Can't wait to see what kinda power that beast will put out. Yep we will be putting Chuck's dyno to some AMC use this winter. IMG_6315 by Rick Jones, on Flickr And as long as I am "toasted" and Rambling on.. We ae set pretty well for the duration. We have about 270 bottles plus probably 40 in our private stash to get us through this winter. IMG_6275 by Rick Jones, on Flickr

Just got back from a ride in the '70 AMX. Finally decided to spend a couple hundred bux on a new chain saw. Yes, a brand fukin new Stihl chain saw. It is pretty much the cheapest one you could buy. Regardless, It will replace the old Crapson that I bought in about 1978. Mind you, I prolly could still get the old crapster to start but I don't think my pullin arm could take it any more. Where was I... Right. Drove the AMX to town because I could, bought the saw and then celebrated with a couple of margaritas of course. So the drive home was just tons-o-fun. Geeze, even with the 2.87 gear and a 50K 360 the car is a blast. I just love beating on a T10, what can I say.. Just get those old AMC's roadworthy and drive them. Even if they are a turd 6 banger 4 door. Just drive them!
