IMO, AMC should have used all GM transmissions and avoided the Chryco junk like the plague. How nice would it be to have a TH350 or 700R4 in a dedicated AMC bellhousing?

I ASSume he is upset with the mentality that only genuine AMC parts are to be installed in ANY AMC vehicle. Get it on the road, who cares what you used to get there appears to be his opinion. I can see his point, and as someone who put an AMC 360 in a Jaguar XJ6 I have to look at both sides of that argument. I'm sure a Jag guy would be even more pissed at a lowly AMC in a Jag than the "standard SBC" motor conversion. I'll admit that a SBC in an AMC pisses me off more than any other off-brand drive train, only because it is the most unimaginative and boring of all swaps. I envision Jethro yanking the 350 out of the rolled over farm truck to put in that mystery motored Rambler....THAT bunches my undies. I also had a '70 AMX with a 454 bbc when I was 18. Tire roasting fun, but not much else. One time I had that car driven by a friend, and my 70 AMX 390 4 spd out on the e-way, and we did a 50 mph roll. They were basically even to 110 mph. It was then that I thought why put up with this ill-handling over-heating giant block of cast iron if it can't run away from a 390?? Of course it still didn't get AMC power for awhile (turbo V6 first), but you get my point. My view is that it better be really well done, and something inventive before I'll consider it a cool swap. Otherwise I would much rather stomp a Camaro or Chevelle with AMC power.

OK, I am on the same page now after a few Margarita's and a half bottle of UP's wine.... Hey javtwotone, I brought back some "patch panels" for Bob's rotted AMX from NEJoe. Boy, those are some Jimdandy's! Well, they are made out of steel at least, I think. Um, you might need to modify and re-form them to even get close to representing the rear quarter of a AMX vehicle... I am just saying. You are going to spend more time re-working those pos than it is going to be starting with flat sheet metal. But hey you are the body man, you be the judge.. He is pretty fired up about them, I am sure he will be down to see you real soon! Man, this Toasted Posting deal is kinda fun..

Yaknow.. we could fix everything with a can of "Shuthefuckup". You know, AMC blue metallic or the non-metallic for the latter years in a rattle can. Spray this shit on, make your engine and complete car look like new and it fixes everything from rattling lifters to a rear main seal leak. Hell, it can double your horsepower and gas milage just by spraying it on. We can charge even more for those special red or gold engines depending on years etc.. Oh, and what about the "Jeepblack".. I mean spray that shit on and once you go black,.,. more horsepower, torque, milage, what ever you want this shit will make it happen for you. I don't know, I think that there is a marketing ploy here..

Now that you mention it, I painted the 360 black in the Jag (you know, since the original was black) and I'm sure it picked up 25 hp at least...But seriously it looked good. I powdercoated the intake and left the Edelbrock logo bare and used stainless hardware on it everywhere I could. As far as the patch panels go, I can hardly wait. The more paint I take off this thing, the more nasty I find...It's been hit front and rear with "almost" right repairs. We'll have to see how much time he really wants me to spend on this gem.

Dam, I really don't want to go to work tomorrow. Shit, a week off for deer hunting and getting caught up around the shop is just not enough time. Oh and no, I didn't even get a shot at a dam Deer this year. Javtwotone wtf!? you volunteered me to work on some dude's '69 Stang 4 speed? Only cuz he owns a a AMX as well I would even consider it and you knew that....Dick. What the hell a T10 is a T10 right, well I guess that I will find out.

Quit whining, I'll probably have to pull the damn thing out for him......besides i figured you could see exactly what is different about them, maybe it can increase some parts options.

Stocked back up for a night... Bro(Farmguy3) conducting a Extreme Farmguy Test. Yes, the magnets on the newly acquired Strap-On beer cozy WILL support a completely full, un-opened beer including cap on a cylindrical surface... Thanks to Rebel327 for the Christmas present!
