Us Local Yolcals know him well. I will encourage him to put down a few words. He has a couple of cool cars, El Matador and a 49 Lincoln. drD by Rick Jones, on Flickr drD1 by Rick Jones, on Flickr

Noooo..... My cover is blown. Now no one will buy that I'm really mild mannered Napa counterman and AM radio enthusiast Dirk Q. Dashing... Oh well I guess I'll just have to get used it. The legions of obsessed fans, bra tossing groupies, random guys at the swap meets asking " Hey Doc you needa beer?" It's a heavy cross gents, but I'll carry it. But I must say I now pine for the days when people would ask each other " Who was that masked drunkard?" As I bravely staggered away from the hotel parking lot party.....
So sense you're all wondering just what in the hell that contraption is that I'm mugging for the camera in front of. Well just get your beverages refreshed, smoke em if you got um, and I'll tell you.
That gents is a rare and lovely Eddie Edmunds dual 2bbl racing intake for the massive and mighty 337 cid Lincoln flathead V-8. It wears a set of government work 4 bolt to 3 bolt carb adaptors from Jones Motorsports and house of ill repute. A lovingly rebuilt pair of genuine South Bend Stromberg 97 carbs flowing a mind blowing 155 cfm a piece. The front carb has it's choke pinned open and the throttles are run non progressive ( like I'd do any thing that's progressive) with home brew linkage on reversed opening Lincoln LZ throttle shafts. Of course the fuel line is the old school see-thru vinyl green dynamite fuse hose in keeping with olde tymes and the minty fresh theme. Fuel pump is a stock Delco type from a '51 and every thing that could be is held together with chrome acorn nuts. Cause as we all know acorn nuts add like 3.5 horsepower each. And duh the 50's! Oh and a fuel psi gauge to insure no more the 4 psi gets to the carbs as they tend to get leaky above that. And nothing screams "Full Race" like having a fuel psi gauge... And no flathead looks right with out period speed parts....

And let me be the first to say El Matador's first legal road trip after long absence from the roads was a complete success! No runs drips or errors... The vintage MSD box does smooth out the rough edges and lights the fire better. In addition to helping economy it just looks awesome. With all that extra voltage Hello 18.7 second ETs... Plus with it installed I can confidently toss an extra lawn chair in the trunk... Does the winning ever stop??? Not to be out done by the triumphant return of the big six when I pulled up Rick was busy getting the Willys Aero off life support. So after a break to enjoy the plush land yacht ride in El Matador. I put on my Farm Guys Certified Willys tech hat and we got to work on the Lil' 6... Turns out a 1/8" chunk of something nasty in the idle jet is no bueno. It took some work with the metric smoke wrench to free up the jet to be picked out but we got it. I just need to dig out a clip for the fast idle rod as the original departed for points unknown during disassembly... Then we can get the rest of the fuel system sorted out and the last of the brake work sorted. Hopefully by the summer we can have Lil' 6 fully operational.
