Welp, I was at an auction today, looking for a flip. When all was said and done, I ended up buying a beautiful, fire engine red, apparently very well maintained '89 Jaguar XJ-S V-12. What a cool, classy, neato car. Despite the rainy, shitty weather, the wife and I took it for a spin. On the way home from the watering hole, we stopped by the grocery store. Got plenty of "nice car" and thumbs ups.
I'll get you guys some pics when it's daylight and not raining.

Omg. Nice looking cars. I wont go negative on you about the engine. Because the LS is a very popular fix😄

A couple of pics. I'll leave the LS swap up to the next owner. For now the original motor runs great. Today's project is to shuffle shit around in the garage so I can get it under cover.

You should put 2 232s in it.

Oh brother. The way things are going these days, if I were to attempt a re-power of any kind, I would probably just end up "Barting" the thing. However, if I were that motivated, it would be a coin flip between an LS and a new Hemi. The LS would probably have a higher resale potential just from a familiarity standpoint.

How's the V12 feel?
Back in the 90s we had a customer at the Gulf station that had one, it was Black, with a tan interior.

It runs great, smooth, quiet, pulls well. It doesn't feel like a dog in any way. Perfectly adequate for hauling lawn chairs to the car show. To me, this is a car that you take out for a drive on a nice day. Take the wife out for lunch and couple of drinks, or to the local show n' shine. For a daily driver, buy a Honda or a Toyota.

That review sounds about right, Joe.
When I was a kid, one of my friend's dad was into Jags. His assessment was that all of the mechanical, made of metal, stuff was excellent. The electronics and soft parts were troublesome. And if you wanted to be a long term owner, you needed to be able to wrench on your own cars, or have fairly deep pockets. But hey, that was the state of luxury cars in general before Lexus and Infiniti raised the bar a few notches.

Interesting article. I never knew the used a TH400.
The front end reminds me of my 73 Satellite.
