For a base line, I assembled the 4 various combinations of vibration dampers and bottom pulleys to determine if there is any differences in belt groove locations. The left one is the early 3-bolt system used until 1972. The center one is a 4 bolt damper with a 2 groove pulley. The one on the right is a 4 bolt damper and a 3 groove pulley. The picture doesn't show it very well but the grooves all do line up.

The 4th combination on the right is a bit of a exception with the 4 bolt damper with a 3 groove pulley. It has a larger 3rd pulley and I believe that it is from a IH 401. The grooves with on the 3 bolt damper and both of the normal AMC/Jeep 4 bolt dampers line up. The IH one does not.

Here are the 3 versions of water pumps that I know of. The first one was used up through 1968. The water pump has a hub height of 5 5/8" and the pulley height is 3 5/8" tall.

The one on the left is used with the 3 bolt vibration damper and has a 4 1/2" hub height. The center one is from the mid 1980's and has a hub height of 4 3/4". The one on the right is the aluminum GMB unit and has the 4 3/4" hub height. GMB sells a normal version and a high performance version but I have bought them both and can not see a difference. I suppose that they could have a different seal in them but they look exactly the same.

I found 4 versions of water pump pulleys. The one on the left has no stamped part number, is 2 3/8" tall is for the water pump with the 4 1/2" hub height. The center one has a part number 3216631 stamped on it, is 2 5/8" tall, has 2 grooves, and is for the water pump with the 4 3/4" hub height. The 3 groove pulley has part number 3227673 stamped on it, is 2 5/8" tall and is for the water pump with the 4 3/4" hub height.

The pulley in the center of this picture has part number 3216614 stamped on it and is about 2 1/4" tall. This one may have been used on the IH 401.
