I looked at the other forum and see how not to troubleshoot a possible starter issue. Ok, blame the mating surface between the aluminum nose and steel case without testing. 2 easy ways. Ohmmeter. Jam a probe into the aluminum housing and the other in the case.
Any resistance? Or Get a helper. Set the meter to volts. Same deal with the probes. One on the aluminum and other on the case. While someone connects the power, is there a voltage reading?
No. Easier to buy a fucking pallet of starters.

Or, clean the ground to the block.

The great thing is blaming a pile of starters. He should be looking at the "Pile" that's going to the parts store to get them.

Or, clean the ground to the block. as Purps would say X2 Not long ago my Blowpar was having trouble starting. Then it flat out wouldn't. It cranked fine, just intermittent spark. So before I headed off to the parts store and bought a crate full of parts, I pulled my ignition box off of the firewall. I scuffed up the back of the box mounts, and my firewall. BOOM!!!! Bitch fired right up strong.... One day my stupid ass needs to run a wire from one of the mounting bolts to a good ground as well.

Did you guys see this one? theamcforum.com/forum/pilot-bushing_topic107896.htmlI had to pull out torque converters 3 times to get all of that information and then forgot and left it on my bench over night. Yea, nice puddle on the floor this morning. Then he says he will probably just put the original engine back in. I need to just let everyone else answer or guess...

Yep, that's what he shoulda did in the first place. The whole thing seem like a giant headache just to run a junk trans. Or what I consider a junk trans. Or even AMC considered a junk trans, since they "moved forward" and went with the TF.

Makes ya wonder wtf he was trying to do. Ditchin an early engine is a plus and ditching a borgamatic is a plus. Why not do it all at once? The proper mod to fit a torqueflite crank to anything is simply add a torqueflite. The only bitch i got about swapping in a torqueflite is it shifts shittier than a borgamatic. A borgamatic is one smooth shifting trans. You will NEVER get a torqueflite to not BANG!!! a light throttle upshift. They all do it and always do it

I have became a fan of the 904/998/999 transmission even thought I don't have one in any of my vehicles right now. By deffenition, this makes me a expert. They are smaller and lighter than a 727 and can be built to handle power. Yea, the Borgomatic should only be used in show cars.

Aside from having to search the Smithsonian for parts and checking the nursing homes for anyone left that knows a Borg Warner, I've had both versions of the Warner. My 69 had the M11 and my 70 has the M11B. The "B" version has a decent firm gear change. On my 70, I started with intentions to do an AW4. I still have the one I got from Rick a few moons ago and I snagged a controller. Problem I ran into was the converter bolt pattern. I'd have to have it changed at the converter. The crank pilot wasn't an issue. I changed the ID of a stock bushing (.750") to match the small step of the AW4(.858").
I just decided I didn't want to jerk with wiring and a cable shift to the OE column.

You want to bolt the AW4 to a flat flange crank engine? If not, you can just use a 4L flex plate. There are a few guys out there that rebuilds the M11 and M12.
