Ok so talk about good luck. I was moving junk around and part of my engine hoist fell over and ruined roadkills radiator. How nice. it was a pretty crappy radiator so I guess it could have been worse. It was probably plugged up and wasnt gonna work out anyways so I ordered a $149 dollar aluminum rad from amazon. Cheapest one i could find. I guess i will find out if it works when it comes in. I dunno but i probably should have opted for a more reliable radiator from the start, but it was a good thing i didntš¤Ŗ

Well chase bank wouldnt pay amazon for a radiator. They have a new policy wherein i have to have a reason for buying it . I said ā because i want toā and that didnt make it happen. Lol. I guess i should just not have a bank. Welcome to tyrrany.š¤Ŗ or maybe thats really fascism. Whatever its called welcome one and all to the new banking experience.

Maybe they are mad at amazon. I found a cheaper radiator on ebay. Lets see how that goes. š i bought a cool cvf racing aluminum pulley kit for a jeep 258 from ebay and it was 54 bux and less than half price. Such sweet polished billet coolness for this shitty pile of junk. Well maybe it will save a couple ounces of weight who knows.. it looks cool anyways And i guess i love wasting money! šš¤£š cvf racing has some neat pulleys for amc jeep and they are a sweet deal on ebay. It may never run but its fun wasting time and money on the roadkill. I wasted the whole memorial day weekend sanding on decklids. The first one was rusty crap. The second one was worse. The third one is not too bad but has been drilled and redrilled for spoilers. What does it matter i do not know maybe i just like to waste time . I swear its not roadkill if it doesnt do burnouts. I should have done something more productive. 2 years and four months and it hasnt moved an inch but it has occupied my time in these depressing days.

I got my ebay radiator. Looks just like my champion radiator i put in the 304 special. Only cheaperš. I made up a bracket to mount a pair of spal 10ā fans that ā orange 70ā had mounted with zipties into the old rad from the 304 special, i had to mount the assembly in front of the rad support to have enough room for the fans and such, and doing so required a little hacking on that lower part of the structure that the hood latch bracket bolts to. Still tweeking that. All in all its gonna be a better rad package that the old shit. It gets hot around here so i gotta be smart about it. Maybe the electric fans will add a fraction of efficency. The aluminum rad is about ten pounds, i think the stock rad is closer to 20. Making progress. Need to get a dash and wiring harness in her.

Well i dunno what the problem really was with my bank not paying amazonā¦But its ok . I found a cheaper rad on ebay. I dont really like ebay for some odd reason but they have proven to be a much greater resource than amazon. Iām a slow learner and stuck in my backwards ways many times. Roadkill was supposed to be a junker tossed together with junk but thats only partially true at this point. I have a lot of time in fabrication, details and carefull work, wasted time on unessesary items, wasted time and money on unessesary parts and reworks and rethought assembly, the usual bogdowns for a procratinator like meā¦I bought an 1100 $ 11ā wilwood front disc brake kit. The old kelsey hays brakes were such junk i couldnt live with it. In full procratinator style i still havent fully committed to changing them out yet. The K/H brakes are still on, they allow 14ā wheels , which is nice, i have a set of 14 ā magnums i might use. Who knows what i will do on any given day. A day in the life of a procratinator with apparant A.D.D. I would venture to say. So i pulled the dash and wiring out of the rusted out blue 70 javelin i have, and decided it was cracked up pretty bad and worthy of some epoxy repair work. And i might just hose it down with some black paint to hide the odd blue colorā¦ and i have an old brown dashpadā¦ so you all know i will waste a couple months ā slappingā this shit in the carā¦š i did spray some black paint on the decklid bogdown and moved forward on that. Its just gonna be a rusted out epoxied up deckid. Its all it needs to be anyways Gotta move on, this car is just that way and i dont have years to commit to fixing that.

Some of the Amazon sellers (at least with car shit) advertise stuff under an actual brand name and send a china knockoff. I've sent enough back marked as deceptive advertising. eBay has been more credible in this respect.

Well i filled up the brake system with fluid and had a leaky caliper. I took it off and apart & cleaned up the casting and i had rust eating up the seal groove. So that one is pretty much crap. I didnt have any others. I went nuts and took the other caliper off and apart ā¦ yeah same deal. I looked for some rebuilt calipers and found none. I figure time to quit the exercize in futility and just put the wilwoods on it. So i dug out the set of 11ā wilwood discs i ordered a while back and put them onā¦ Lipstick on a pig i know but old junk brakes are as dumb as NOS tires. So i thrashed brakes all weekend. I didnt have and good rear drums, so i found a decent set from my old 77 hornet, but they were the late style one piece solid cast drums, and they are thicker at the hub, so the wheel studs were too short, i didnt wanna pound them out with a hammer and hurt anything, so i pushed them all out with a big T puller, and then replaced them all with long moroso studs. That took forever. I hooked up all the parking brake cables adjusted the brakes and cables, but guess what happened when i tried to set the parking brakesā¦ pop goes the main cable. I found new ones on summit. Four in stockā¦ ordered them all. Should be here in a couple days. Now i had already bought a set of wilwoods for the rear. I got curious and dug them out of the hoard and looked at em. (Iām getting the urge to assemble another model 20 for this car with a set of 3.31 gears)ā¦Anyways that set of brakes was the big 13 inch rotor kit. Poop again. Went hog wild and ordered the 11ā wilwood disc kit for the rearā¦ think i will run the rear drums for now. Put in a new wilwood brake proportioning valve, made new lines for thatā¦ put in a hurst line lock on the front lineā¦ made new lines for thatā¦ busted my hump all weekend. Still no brakesš¤£ but iām closer? Maybeš. When i get the rear axle built and get the rear wilwood brakes inā¦ add anothe 100 bux or so for the wilwood parking brake cable kitā¦ iām gonna have 3000 $ in brakes but it all new and its four wheel disc and it gonna be safer. Yeah i keep tellin myself dumb shit like that. This thing aint gonna be roadkill at all by the time i get it on the damn road. š¤£š¤Ŗš but just maybe i wonāt have to worry about brake problems on road trips? Reliability isnt so dumb. And i think i lost about 30 pounds of unsprung pork with the wilwoods. When i get the rears in itāll be even more weight loss. Thats good stuff!

Sounds as if you didn't have bad luck, you wouldn't have any. My brakes were the cheap way out. Spirit discs up front and eldorado/toronado disc calipers in the rear with e brakes. Biggest pain in the ass i ran into was that I needed a longer left rear cable. Took a year of hunting and of all the cars, it turned out that a 69 american had a longer cable than the ambassador. Go figure.

I dunno if its bad luck really. It would have been worse if i got a hundred miles from home and the calipers dumped fluid. Bad planning certainly. Definitly follows freiburgers ā roadkill luckā. I dont wanna cheap and stupid myself into a lawsuit maybe. Fun is fun but iām not the 20 year old optimist . Iām the 60 year old betting on 50 year old brakes, and they are tellin me snap out of it you old foolš¤£

Wow. Maybe i shouldnt have named this one roadkill. It has been many hundreds of hours of fun. Yesterday was fun and funny. I got a POWERMASTER!!! (Lmao) starter from summit to replace a old stock starter ( that worked) because i wanted that sweet new ministarter zinginess. Ok so i fucked upš. Well its boxed up ready to get returned. Think about it. How many times do you crawl under there, bolt one on, take it off, rinse and repeat, before you can just live with it grinding to life? Shitness!š¤£ then theres the hours i spend looking for ā that other starterā my feeble old mind put somewhereā¦ not there, not there, not thereā¦ i think i threw a dozen old starters away onceā¦ because i was ā phasing outā starters that weighed more than a fucktonā¦ for what? I crawled under two cars last night, well this morning after midnite, to rob starters i had already robbedā¦ wtf did i do with those? Wheres the one i got for the summit condemned shelf? Well i can spend july fourth finding that one i guess. Roadkill! Should be renamed ābackyardkillā or ābrainkillā. šgotta love it. See the new topic ā junk partsā in ā slapfestā and definitly add your own rants about junk. The brainkill javelin. It did move under its own power the other day when it rolled off the stacks of 2x8 blocks i had it sitting on. It smashed up a decrepid privacy fence that was hiding it from the city inspector shit detectorsā¦So i know it really wants to goā¦ i know that is so funny. I was in the garage and heard this bizzare crunch ā¦roadkill, err, brainkill, had killed a fence. Fencekill? Buzzkill? Spudkill?
