There is a abandoned farm house and barns on my rout to the machine shop where I remember seeing some AMC's and Courgars from time to time in the 1980's Drove by there today and the fence was open and 4 guys were dragging cars out of the barn. The 1955 Willys Pickup caught my eye first but quickly found out that is was not for sale. Typical thing where the hoarder passed away and now his friends are trying to sell the junk off. There were a couple of firebirds and cougars that are sold off as well as one of the AMC Eagles. Note that all of these cars are Michigan cars that have been sitting on a dirt floor for 20 plus years. No lights in the barns so you can't really see anything. Nonetheless, I will be going back tomorrow to take a better look. He has probably 5-6 Small Eagle SX/4 cars of various states of junkness. There is a Matador Coup as well as a Coffin Nose Mat 4 door. A red and rotted 77 Hornet AMX is in the dirt and sitting out in the rain is the best car which is a Pierre Cardan Javelin with no hood, front fender and grille. He says he would sell the cars with no engines for about $1000.00 and the cars with engines will go for $1500. He wants #3500.00 for the Javelin. There is also a 4 cyl Commando and a rotted J20 that the guy who is selling the stuff would flip for the right price.

I bought 3 so far for 2K. Probably a stupid move. I bought the ragged out 77 AMX with a 304, the 81 Spirit AMX with a 6 cyl and a 4cyl Spirit. The 4cyl Spirit had parts from the Spirit AMX on it so it was a package deal. I actually bought the two Spirits and made him throw the Hornet in as part of the deal IMG_5492 by Rick Jones, on Flickr IMG_5485 by Rick Jones, on Flickr

I doubt it but we will see. The Hornet is one of the rustiest ones that I have ever seen.

There are 3 SX/4's in the one barn and 1 or 2 more over in another bar buried in junk. I haven't seen the other two yet. IMG_5488 by Rick Jones, on Flickr IMG_5489 by Rick Jones, on Flickr

Never owned an AMC with the 4 cylinder Briggs. I rebuilt one of the 258's and passed it on to 2 Eagle bodies as they rotted apart. Was a fun runner. .040 over, 290 4 barrel pistons, moderate crane cam, header and a 600 Holley

Dave and I looked at them on Thursday. While I would like to have an SX/4, I just had to pass on them. A good car could be made out of the three of them but the last thing I need is another project hanging around my neck.
Rick, go buy all the Eagles just in case I change my mind I will know where they are. LOL

Not sure heaven is the right word... the hoarding started in 73. It's amazing the shit that's in there. Everything from the old trampoline we had as kids to 68 AMX in the rafters. The property taxes will probably quadruple this year so most of it has to go.

I figure that the Spirit/AMX re-fitted with the V8 drive train from the Hornet/AMX would make someone a fun car. I am assuming that none of them will run of course. I just bought them to save the Whales. If someone want them for what I paid form them they can have them. Kinda anxious to see what the Spirit parts car actually looks like. Might be a good candidate for a cheap quarter miler. We have had monsoon season for about two weeks now so too muddy to drag them out right away. Maybe mid-week I can go at it.
