The Indy heads on my yellow car are beat, bad. So what to do? Design and machine some billet wedge heads. Again, main design by Ken Parkman with me tweaking for machining and doing the actual machining. We hope to be able to sell a few sets of these at some point. The final design is not completely done but hopefully within the next week. I already have the prototype material ready to start the prototype machining. A few details: 13 degree valve angle (stock and Indy 18) Overall height 4.8” (Indy + .400) Intake ports + 1.500” over stock (Indy + 1.200) Exhaust same as Indy 2.28”/1.75” valves, 2.08” valve centerline, same as Mopar, +.030” between valves compared to indy Exhaust centreline moved .140” from stock. 1.65” pivot rockers (Indy 1.52”). Intake side +.500” over stock (Indy +.200) 1” Spacers to use Indy intake, port angle is higher.

Very cool project! I assume you will be doing a lot of testing before they go for sale? I assume these will be for racers looking to get as much as possible so market will be pretty limited?
Also, just out of curiosity, how long will something like this take to machine?

Thanks. The first set is to go on my yellow car. If they work out for even a single season under those conditions, they will be proven in my mind. Yes, a VERY limited market. They will have some water passages which should be enough for fast racing but not even close for street driving. I haven't done the CNC programming yet but based on the other set of heads and the billet intake, my guess is 30~40 hours of spindle time each.

So these will be all CNC?
One of my regrets is not letting my dad train me in his shop at home. He was a precision machinist and only stopped tinkering in the last year. He had a machine shop added onto the house with 2 full size lathes (one he restored and rebuilt from boxes) a full size mill etc. He could build anything out of anything and was an incredible machinist. He retired from UBC where he worked at Triumf cancer research. He loved the exotic materials and extreme tight tolerance work.

So these will be all CNC? Yes, these will be billet heads with some water passages drilled in strategic locations. Casting is great for production but the upfront cost is too high for such a small market. Not to mention that a billet head is much stronger and a better fit for this application.

Trying to learn here not criticizing anyone or anything so please do not take any offence to my questions.
But why not put a 2.35" intake valve and use a 1.65" exhaust ?
Is the larger exhaust valve because its a nitrous dedicated head ?
Do Jessel or T&D offer rockers that will fit or will you need custom rocker arms for these ?

Sorry Lenni. I did not see your post. 1) The valve sizing tends to be a bit based on personal experience and compromise. I can not directly answer your question as Ken did that design work. 2) No, it is not a dedicated nitrous head. 3) Different rockers will be required. But the rockers are off the shelf piece at T&D while the stands will be unique to the head. And we are making progress. Machining should start by the end of the month. But I don't plan on putting them on the car until next winter.

Racing at that level sure is $$$. Can I have your old heads?

Racing at that level sure is $$$. Can I have your old heads? I'm not sure what I will do with the old heads. They sure are tired and worn out.

I'm sure those 2 blocks weren't cheap! $844.00 Not cheap but a drop in the bucket for the project.
