25 or 30 years ago I bought a collection (12) of Gremlins in western NY. Most were parts cars but I saved 3 of them. At the time they all needed what I considered to be too much work so I sold them. A few years later I bought a 74 and a 75 Gremlin in Fla. The 74 was rusted pretty bad so I parted it out to use for parts to fix the 75. In the end the 75 turned out to be a pretty decent car but it was a 6 cyl and I really wanted a V8, without all of the complications of swapping in a V8, so, that one got sold too. Fast forward 30 years and I again started looking for another Gremlin, hoping to find the right engine, year, combination and not have to do a ton of work. Well, I found out that there are no more decent $1000 Gremlins anymore. For that matter, it's hard to even find a parts Gremlin for $1000 anymore. Well, I settled for this one that I am planning on putting on the road and driving. It's a 72 (the right year) and a 304 (the right engine) and it's an original X, which makes it even better. Unfortunately, It's going to need work and some parts to get it back on the road. Hopefully, now that I am retired, I'll get some time to get it back on the road. Yeah, it's been about 10 years since I've had an AMC on the road. It'll be nice to have something besides an AMX or Javelin to drive....

Looks like a perfect driver to me. Why change it?
