lol It turns into the usual baffle, no baffle, shape of snorkel argument. Maybe they can argue about sticker placement next. 1/4" this way, 1/4" that way. After 50 years in AMC, they haven't figured out such a simple thing yet. 2 pages heading up on 3 and the dude doesn't have an Air Cleaner yet, and we may never know if he finds one. Since he'll give up posting at 6 pages when they are arguing about what shade of Black it was painted. Since people are going to Secret Squirrel PMs, people prolly want $1000-$3000 for one. I also can't stand people selling stuff and going Secret Squirrel PM bullshit as well. Must be a real stupid fucking price then. theamcforum.com/forum/air-cleaner-housing-70-and-later_topic123232_page1.html

I understand what he's trying to find.... He'd like the original air cleaner assembly. They are not very easy to find anymore. I paid $175 for the last one I bought (for my last 70 AMX), about 10 years ago. If it's the last part he needs to complete his car, he'll end up paying up for it. I've always been the guy believes that "good things come to those who wait". I am looking for a few things for my cars but I am not willing to pay top dollar. I'll eventually come across what I am looking for. The difference is I know exactly what I am looking for so I may find it somewhere I least expect to find it, and it may very well be the bargain of the year. I think the biggest problem with most guys is they don't do their homework before they start looking for parts. They ask other guys before they even know what they are looking for, which can turn into a scalpers goldmine.

I was kinda thinking that for a driver, any ol' snorkel type air cleaner would work, at least until the one he wants comes along. I have a couple of Ford air cleaners that I think I'm gonna make into a dual snorkel with pipes going behind the headlights for cold air.

Yea, no one is listening to him. He just wants a air cleaner that looks right.. "And just a FYI. We are not looking for it to be 100% stock. The car/ engine being modified with a stealth look. We call it the Group 19 look. Wink"

I still wouldn't pay what those guys are asking for those Jeep cleaners, they are not that hard to find. I bought a nice 72-up complete (lid and base) air cleaner assembly at Greenmead last year for $30 and guys are asking $160 for those...

There's a Jeep one on Marketplace for $10. No lid. Just what he wants. Just far away for him.
