I have to build a 360 for a fella that lives in Austria. They have stupid laws that says that the vehicle must meet emissions. I don't know the first thing about all of that because, I was one of those who took it all off as soon as I could. We don't have emission testing in my area so, I never cared. Here is what he emailed to me today.
Hi Rick, had today the meeting to discuss the Emission / Smog delete.... Bad News, i have to pass following datas: HC - 600 ppm (max) Co - 3.5 Vol. % (if engine is not running correct, minimal higher) Additional, no Aftermarket Carburetor! So we have to stay at stock Motorcraft 2150, and i would suppose too the Stock Intake (2BBL). Cat i have to install too.....one way.
So other than a pure stock 8.5:1 compression ratio 360, is there any performance upgrades I can do? What would be the cam limitation? Would it be stupid to use a Edelbrock Performer intake with a 2BBL adapter? Or would the cast iron stocker intake actually be a better choice? What would bumping the compression to 9.5 do?

That commie shit will be coming our way soon too, I fear.
You could probably get better performance and meet/beat specs with a full EFI system and cats. All it takes is $$.

Once you get an exhaust analyzer hooked up to the engine stand, you'll be able to tweak it for best performance and emissions...
No new truck for you

BabyWag on the Jeep Forum has been there and done that so, I will follow his lead. www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?p=1657801#post1657801Also, my Machinist was telling me that the local Pantera Guru uses a electric solenoid to jack up the timing at idle to help pass emissions. Interesting concept.

Over here, certain area's have to meet a visual inspection as well, not just a sniffer test, which is conducted at idle and 2500 rpm in W-PA. So everything has to be on and operating for the year of vehicle. That EGR better work, etc. Dunno about OZ.

Got it running with my starting carb and fuel pump. We will see if the video works.

We don't even have emissions testing in the Trump counties of WA. AFAIK, vehicles over 25 years old are exempt anyway, so I don't have any good advice for ya'. Vid works, but Photobucket has been kinda sucky for the last few years.
