Yeah still looking for another project and ran by this one. The only thing I need here are some questions answered. This is a 67 Coupe in the link below. Damage on the drivers side pretty much all the way down the car pulling the rear bumper out about 6-8". The guy sent me a bunch of pictures and other then this damage the car is in pretty good shape. The interior looks immaculate, it's got the 343 4bbl setup, passenger side is cherry, 72K miles. Said he would take much less and it's close so I will take a look at it this weekend. The question is can you back half a 4door 67-68 and make the swap work out? Will the trunk lid work from a four door to a two door? I was looking at some four doors which seem to be around and it looks like the bumper, bumper extension and a partial section of the rear quarter will work, but not certain. It looks like a front clip off of a 4 door 67-68 would swap out as well. I know Amboats are not that popular, but thought I would ask. Thanks atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/3088889750.html

It looks fixible to me, I wouldn't clip it. Are you talking about race-car type back halfing? I have seen a Rebel Machine done so, I wouldn't think that it would be that difficult. I am not sure what you are asking about the front. From the windshield forward there is no differences between a 2 door or a 4 door. The trunk lids are different between a 2 door and a 4 door sedan.

I fully agree with SC, the rear quarter would need some expert pulling or tweeking, but i think i could save all those body panels for sure. thats a keeper for sure, and i wouldn't be a bit ashamed of it , even if it does have some whiskey bumps. killer find.

I'm going to check it out tomorrow. Apparently this is at a car lot in the middle of nowhere GA. Lula GA to be exact, but within 50 miles from our pad.
Rick yes the terminology I used was incorrect and I'm not going to "Back half" this like a race car. I'm not a body guy so I all I think about is replacing panels.
Did these cars really come with pillows in the back seat? From the looks of the pictures those pillows match the interior perfect.
If the underside looks good no rust, dash is not shot and all that BS I think will get in the Pawn Stars type bidding.
My Wife was born in "67" so that's my selling point on the home front! Like "come on baby it is the same age as you and it is the color you always wanted" or some bull shit like that. She's game and always have been. Just like a big ole fish "Hook line and Sinker"
Yeah I'll probably have to buy here brand of beer tomorrow, but at the end of the day and everything goes well she will have her first AMC!

Yea, you could order pillows for the Amboats. Man, I wish some of you guys (Y'all) lived closer... Between javtwotone and myself, we could get those cars back to their former glory for you.

I finally got to see this 67 Coupe on Friday. Nobody was at the lot, but I was able to see as much as I needed. The front bumper was damaged as well which I didn't expect, the interior was rotting on the top of the back seats, dash and wheel looked great, but there was more body damage then the pictures showed. I basically left him a message and told him if he couldn't sell it I would give him $500.00 bucks and part it out.
I was able to pick up a set of 502 heads this weekend which have been cleaned, dis-assembled and magnafluxed. They were very reasonable $100.00 although I had to drive 340 miles round trip to get them. I plan on doing some porting and polishing on these with some direction from my Mopar friend.
He also had a 401 block with caps for $400.00, but said the magnaflux showed a hairline crack around one of the head bolt threads. He said it was common for these 401's to have this, but for now I passed.
So Rick are these hairline cracks common? And can they be repaired by the machine shop if there is a concern?
Thanks!
