Hey guys, Jerry here. I'm hoping to gain some firsthand feedback. Would anyone that has built or bought a dry sump oil system share their experience and pictures? Specifically the pickup shape and locations in the pan. If you built it did you buy the pickup tubes? make tubes? What brand of pump? Results? Anything you would do differently?
My reason for asking... engine sits low in the chassis.... my pan is basically a rectangle..... no sump.... just 1 divider w/ 2 trap doors that barely slow down the oil that is running away from the "stationary" single pickup tube in the very rear of the pan on deceleration. Pickup is a 1 inch Dia. tube sideways, capped off, with a slot opening cut in the side of the tube just wide enough to put the tip of 2 fingers into. Hanging approx. 1/4 inch off the bottom. Built buy someone else. Depth of pan is almost to the bottom of bellhousing. Holds 7 qts to the bottom of windage screen. Pan has a slight tapper. (Forgot to measure depth) Being afraid of having the pickup be exposed, I was running 9 qts. Thinking this isn't ideal......
Thank You in advance.

Aviaid has built plenty of amc dry sump pans. I have one for a 343 I'm putting together for someone who wants to road race. Dry sump is plumbing intensive. The pan is easy. The pump and dive is more challenging, where to put a 220 degree five gallon tank is a pain in the ass. And 5 million in aeroquip hoses is an asswhip.

Thank you Spud. I didn't think any business made them, was expecting custom at best.
A 220 degree 5 gallon tank must need one thick insulated blanket! (assume it ends up inside the car)
The black nylon coated hose is much nicer to work with than getting stabbed by stainless wire coated hose.

Good time to consider a good oil cooler, full flow oil filtration etc for even more plumbing fun. Don't forget filter screens in your scavenge lines to avoid costly pump failure.

I do run an Oberg oil filter, seems to work. Didn't know there was such a thing as a filter for the scavenge lines........ and I've seen damaged pumps.
