Very cool, Rick. Thank you. And the "Butchered" car did have the empty blower per several people who saw it first hand. The carb would have been completely consealed and the blower drive system would have looked like it was functioning - I bet that it DID have the hollowed out blower on it. The red arrow shows where they snuck the fuel line through. I wonder how they rigged up a throttle cable...

That is some very cool stuff to have you hands on. It would be cool to make a complete replica of the Butchered car.

I wonder how well that setup would run.

I wonder how well that setup would run. It probably ran fine but lost some horsepower due to turning the bearings in the blower...

I'm gonna do some leg work when this weather breaks and see what I can find. I did get the story that they were removing the blower from the butchered car. Where was the seller of the intake from?

Can ya toss in a pic of the manifold ? Looks like a crossram design... and iron. As far as the hilborn bugcatcher inlet goes...I was pretty skeptical it was a true hilborn injected an blown "streetcar"... since that setup is wide open throttle use. The hidden carb makes a lot more sense.

It is a cross ram bottom and correct, it was not a true blown street car. I would love to find a junk blower for a really cheap price.

I wonder what they did with the original blower housing.

The last 343 stickers out of AMC. A friend that works on the inside owns these.

We call this a Factory Fkup.. This is the VIN for the 71 Hornet that I just bought from NEJoe. It perfectly matches the options on the car and has the 13 digit code. The one on top that is. This car has a second VIN underneath the top one. The top one was actually glued on. The bottom VIN 14 digits and is riveted to the dash like normal but, it doesn't have the normal VIN rivets. I wonder how many more they made the same way. Here are the numbers if you can't read them. Notice that the last 8 digits match. Crazy. Top: A1S060E143852 Bottom: A1A0S60E143852

A few years back there was an SC/360 Hornet that was posted on ebay with the same kind of VIN deal. The owner pulled the auction but I don't know what ever happened to the car. The two different numbers were only a few digits apart, maybe 4 or 5. I don't know if the owner checked the frame stamped numbers so I never heard the outcome.

Don't tell anybody but one time we shipped a whole pallet of shocks that were stamped "Yahama" on them instead of "Yamaha". My Rebel Machine tag doesn't match the sticker on the door by exactly 10. This kind of stuff happens quite often. Probably with the SC/360 and with this Hornet for sure there is no doubt that both tags were there from the factory due to the fact that the last 8 digits match perfectly. When manufacturing plants have a issue or screw up, it is never just on just one unit....

Don´t know if its rare or not but I had a 304 that came with notched bores in the block for bigger valves from a factory and the heads had 1.94" and 1.55" valves in them This was in a Jeep Commando 1972 I´ve never seen another 304 with notched bores and that size valves from the factory on any other 304. But sadly don´t have any pics and the engine was sold years ago. Always regretted having sold the engine since it might have been something special about it which I didn´t notice at the time. Does anyone seen a 304 like that from the factory and is there anything else special about them except the valve size and notched bores. I was maybe thinking forged crank or something but I have no idea.
