'60 Rambler on Epay, with a Mustang II front end, but no motor. The crossmember looked familiar, so I started checking the pics very close. There is a shot of the lower control arm, that matches Alfano's exactly... I then went to Speedway Motors site to see what they offered. Very close, and in some of the pics, it looks to me that the lower control arm is the same as Alfano's. The pics that show a close up of just the lower, it is a different design, but, the pics of the assembly make it look like the Alfano version could have been an earlier design...
makes me wonder how much of that "kit" was actually made for an AMC, since most of the parts that were fucked up, were the ones needed for an AMC application...

in my limited experience with his "kit", as it were, I assume some of them worked. Not to say they were perfect, chances are at least one was good, and several were useable, not sure how many were bad, or needed rework to be useable. If someone was able to put one under a 60 rambler I would assume that required some rework. Only nick knows the level of success the venture achieved. I think it was a good idea, to use parts already produced, and it would have worked out if he could have had consistancy and quality in the items he manufactured. It seemed a good alternative to the control freaks suspension , which in my opinion is too much $$$.

Well said Spud. I'm certainly not out to bash anybody trying to offer parts for AMCs, but for Christ sakes at least attempt to have the stuff fit...... I'm sure the prototype fit great. Who knows, maybe he handed it off to someone he thought would make a quality kit, and keep the consistency where it needed to be.

I agree. another thing that would have been great, but didnt work out for basic reasons. I would definitly criticize how mr alfano handled this particular deal. A lot of money changed hands for what was in reality a "kit" that was never going to bolt in and work. It was just way too fucked up. I witnessed and confirm all the shortcomings first hand. Anger makes for poor dealings... simple enough to ship it back for a refund. Mr alfano elected to keep the money.

All that work, and he sells the damn thing....... the car is now in California. UPDATE!!! Guy rolled it leaving a car show 9/29. Made the local news since he started a brush fire from the crash.. It's done, rolled AND 2/3 burnt up. Guess he's OK (physically anyway).

You sure it wasn't a Mustang? Maybe the current owner put Mustang parts on it? That's a sure-fire way to total a car leaving a show, drive a Mustang, lol! Maybe a Mustang rolled too and this guy didn't want it to feel left out?

Are you sure the front end didn't lock up or break? That could make a guy a little nervous.

GAYAMC forum said eyewitnesses called it driver error while showing off as he left the car show, but thanks for the supportive words..
