Yep, here in Ohio you can't leave anything "bare" for long. Gotta coat it with something.

Rick, Looks great & glad it's running. Thx for all the hard work.
The rockers are a bit concerning. When I swapped the heads & cam last time I had trouble with the pedestals hitting the rockers. Don't remember what length I ordered but I put in longer push rods. That was at least 10 years ago and the rockers where probably added 20 years ago. Good catch.
Those are the first set of heads I ported. Probably have six months into them. I'm slow and was still learning. Scared to death of breaking through somewhere.
Can't wait to get the car back together.

Look at the bright side bud. It aint the block. It may be a small pinhole, that you might drill and tap, and locktite a small setscrew, or a 1/16 th inch pipe plug in. If its a small crack you can “ pin” it. I dont know if you are familiar with pinning, it works pretty good on cracks. That leak is in a reasonably safe area for a repair...

That is a bummer. But like spud sez, it's fixable.

I would have never looked for a crack in this area. It was leaking as I poured water in the thing under no pressure at all. This makes 7 heads that are cracked. I need to make a trip to the welder I guess. I guess I need to build a pressure tester as well. IMG_1179 by Rick Jones, on Flickr
