That is VERY cool! I'm thinking that the front of that oil-pan could use a little of that diamond-plate too... ;D

""I dont mean to be talking outa school. But seems the dual quad intake dosnt give as much as it looks like it would. But thats jazz man. Beautiful Jazz. ""
You are right! The Offy dual quad manifold is a POS in my mind. No doubt, I could put even the original Machine manifold on with a nice size Holley and it would out perform the set up that I have. With this project it all just has to look fast, It doesn't have to be fast. like you say "Beautiful Jazz"
Good Idea on the diamond skid plate Bob. Those pans really hang down low in the small cars. Ask Bill Ketchum, he keeps flattening them out for some reason. Cheek won't have the same problem though. He will just have to worry about driving over one of his neighbor's land mines..

70. Orange70s complementary 500 hp 401............ "Complementary" Eh.. 60. 67RogueXCode: 343 block, 360 crank = 368 CID. Check out the special "X" where the bell housing bolts up. And, this block is one of those extra special ones with the upside down "343" embossments. I like how Jim L. drilled the rear two drain back holes larger so, I did this one the same way. Crane Cam, had a really small oil hole going to the distributor gear. I ended up drilling the oil hole to match the stock size. The cam spins by hand really nice. I opened all of the oil holes in the bearings to match the 5/16" holes in the block. Chuck's typical super job on machining. Reconditioned rods with ARP bolts. Short block is just about all assembled. Hey Bob, what color am I painting this thing?

Well the timing cover and oil pump cover took forever to degrease, sandblast and chase threads as usual. I polished the gasket surfaces and got the oil slot fixed in the timing gear done tonight.

Installed the timing set, water pump, front cover and oil pump tonight. I had to use the Bulltear distributor gear set because Bob's was just wore too much. I called NAPA and asked for a water pump for a '68 343 and none of their warehouses had it in stock so I said look one up for a '73 Javelin with a 360 - same deal. Then I said, look one up for a 1980 Jeep Cherokee 360.. Bingo! Got a brand new one in two days for $38.00 ($65.00 list). No core required. Made in China of coarse but that is the way it is.

Oil pan baffle had a couple spot welds broke loose. This is pretty typical. Forgot to take a picture after i welded it back in place. Got the oil pick-up and pan installed tonight. Tomorrow I will snug up the bolts.

60. 67RogueXCode: 343 block, 360 crank: Hmmm, I wonder what lurks under that baffle plate.. Guess that it hasn't been cleaned in a while.. I wouldn't want this junk in my engine. This is just what I cleaned out of the oil filler tube. Two and a half hours later..
