Um... it took a little longer than that to get to this point on this one too. I bought the car at least 12 years ago. I blasted the bottom side and put a quarter on it then, it spent a year at javtwotone's then, came back to my place now, it is back at his place. I am inspired now though... I will be driving it next summer. It will be going back to pure stock...Jones style.

Mini bike forks.... Now why didn't I think of that? Mine is on one of those cheap trailer tongue wheels. The kind that you can raise or lower with a crank. I picked it up from AutoZone for about $30. I bolted it to a few two by sixes that are mounted to the frame. I can't tow it like yours but it pushes and turns pretty easy...

Well I left home Saturday morn at 10:00 a.m. and got home Sunday morn at 2:30 but it's painted. Javtwotone and I double teamed the painting duties. He did the easy stuff and I did all of the hard stuff. ;D Now at least it looks like shiny primer.. This is the quarter panel that I had to replace..

Whaddya mean ya' take out all the glass and wiring and stuff? Can't ya just mask it off? I mean, I know a guy who does collector quality restorations, and that's how he does it.

Thanks! No, the hard part is done.. Rolling around under a car sandblasting, cutting a quarter panel off and putting a new one on, hours of fitting and blocking the body out and painting is multi times more work than the rest of it. The rest of it is just restoring one piece at a time. It is like hanging ornaments on the Christmas tree. Speaking of ornaments, I am going to need some stuff. I have like one nice driver's side door handle. I will need a matching passenger side. Anybody have one? Also, I need to look at my wheel lip stainless. I may have one usable piece. On the "bright" side, I nave NOS mirrors and wheel center caps that will look just swell on the O'l SC.

Do you need interior or exterior door handles for it? I might have an extra NOS exterior. Eventually I am going to get around to sorting out the rocker trim and wheel opening trim I have but I can't commit to doing it right now.
I bought my first SC/360 back in 80 (I've owned 5 of them) so I've been saving NOS parts for them ever since. I let a lot of my extra stuff go when I sold my mustard, auto, SC/360 to Kirkwood on the other forum. I have just about all of the exterior trim and bright work for mine, NOS. Not to mention a ton of NOS parts for the interior & NOS mechanical parts for the exterior. I just need to get to work on mine.

The only thing I am absolutely 100% sure I have extra right now is an NOS factory, Hurst, 4 spd, shift handle that is correct for the SC/360.

I need the exterior door handles. The interior is not that important to me as long as they match. I have to see what I have for the interior. I have a few AMC shifters. Is there any difference between the SC/360 and a Javelin AMX ? Just like my SC/Rambler, I bought the SC/360 as a basket case. No matter what I do to it, it will be better than what it was.

The shifter was basically the same one as a 69-70 AMX Javelin, it is a round handle style Hurst shifter. However, it had course threads, not fine threads like the AMX Javelin. It also has a different shift handle part # on the bottom. I know that is all technical who-ha for the guys that like things original, like me.

Somehow I don't remember getting the "easy" parts of the car to paint..... seriously though, the car looks damn good, can't wait to get the stripe on it.

Got the cracks all fixed in the hood scoop. It is kinda bad... I had to lay out all of the various tail lights that I had bought over the years to figure out the best combination of housings and lenses. Now, I have to polish the NOS lenses to get the scratches out.

Some things to watch out for with the lenses and housings... If you are looking for an original look, the lenses with the chrome strip in them are 70 lenses, 71 were the silver painted ones (AMC cheapened them up). Check out all your housings because you can't use just any year housings. After 71 they started removing the cast in mounting bosses for the clear defuser lenses. Only 70 and 71 housings have them. A lot of people think they are all the same but they are not. If you don't use the defuser the tail lights just don't look right when they are lit....

Yes I know about the tail lights and all of that, thanks. I will make it all work. I have been debating all week on which gear to put in it. I had a fleeting thought of putting a 3.91 in it to play around at the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags with it. The rules say that I can go one size bigger in tire and bump the compression up 1.5 points. You can't modify the exhaust manifolds but I would be tempted to cheat a little by putting a Free Flow manifold on the passenger's side. I am still up in the air but for practicality reasons I probably should just put a 3.15 in it. Maybe I will compromise and put a 3.54 in it. Hell, I don't know...... BTW.. any clue what color the red is suppose to be on the tail panel? I know one guy matched it up to a 1970 ford color DAR71528H.. Hey, maybe I will paint it Bright Red SC/Rambler color!
