Yep, prices sure have gone up. I've seen really nice Waggy's at 28K and above.

I now wish I'd bought that rust free 401 Cherokee at Daveys Jeeps for $1800 years ago. Solid body, but the interior was completely trashed. Not one decent piece in it.

Body and paint are the most difficult and expensive thing to fix. At least for me they are.

The problem with all of the full size Jeep stuff is as soon as the tin worm has started, they're essentially a write-off as far as ever being a viable restoration candidate. They typically rot from the inside out and there's just no saving it correctly. Even if they did make body panels. I don't see this ever changing. Very nice ones will continue to climb in value, ok-ish ones will continue to be affordable, and junkers will stay dirt cheap.

Was there any truth to the Plant leaving the bare bodies sit outside, hence a lot of the rot problem? I heard that story long ago.

For $4K, I'd sell you three 401 powered FSJs, two of which run and drive.

Makes me miss my '78 Golden Eagle J10. Went to look at an '83 Cherokee with Jon S. Been sitting awhile in a "barn" barely out of the weather, on wet mud. Loaded up model, still had the chrome rims on it. Body not bad, but interior was rodent home for way too long and it was trashed. It also had the classic frame rot next to the fuel tank. $850, but just couldn't do it. Don't have the kind of time anymore that thing would need to bring it back to life..
