Was there any truth to the Plant leaving the bare bodies sit outside, hence a lot of the rot problem? I heard that story long ago. Not likely standard practice. But poor body design trapping water/gunk/crud in the pinch seams all over the place makes them rust buckets pretty much from day 1.

All of the old shit depended on dinky body drains, rather than good design, to keep them from holding water. Those drains always plug up, and presto, major rustbucket.
