....sort of. I'm a total newbie, and kinda feelin' like the guy that builds a $5000 304 that runs 15s. Anywho, I got a hive, and ordered a 4lb. package of bees which arrived today. I made a couple of crucial fuck ups which resulted in them stinging the shit out of me. Not to mention, the sound of 40000 upset bees is also a little unnerving. But they're in, and I definitely learned what NOT to do when setting up a new hive.

theres been some kind of sickness killin off bees round here. but hey the african bees seem to be doin ok. I don't like bees. when they get near me i leave em alone as a freindly gesture, but i don't trust em for shit. I have a swarm move into my house one time. i dumped sevin dust on em and it killed every last one. I know how to fight em if they piss me off.

I've been wanting to do this for some time, but yesterday's experience almost had me reconsidering. ;D So far we don't have the africanized bees up here, apparently they don't like the cold.

thats a misconception. no bees really like the cold, but africanized bees can tolerate it as well as any bee. they have been found as far noth as oregon to date. so eventually all north american bees allowed free range will become africanized.

I've been kinda studyin' the whole AHB thing, and over time, and the farther north they go, the more tame they become. Nobody really seems to know why. On a side note, I opened up my hive today, and they hardly seemed to even care. Pretty docile.
