The only thing I hate about the Cammer is, it was the nuthuggers dream engine on MySpace automotive forums. Everyone who never raced, let alone changed their own oil, loved them. Hence hate. Be neat to have one, but they're way out of my price range. My dream motor is a little more realistic: LSA. Or even closer to being within my reach: a spudbuilt 401.

My dream engine is whatever shows up here for free. I got a set of early smog SBC heads, before they became lightweight and cracked, a week ago for free and some other tidbits and I was ecstatic. lol

Keep in mind big block mustangs are unusual. In 67 you could have had two different 390’s, a 4v or a hi performance. A 427 was rumored, but was either extremely rare or possible a couple dealer installed units. 68 brought the 428, cj and super cj. 428s carried into 69, but were upstaged by 429s.

The 429 is a true big block, much more potential there.

My Dad ha a 2dr 1969 LTD with a 429 in it. Red, Black vinyl top, black interior buckets and console. I remember it being loud, had dual exhaust on it and the Headlight doors would fuck up on it.

Yanno, looking around. I wonder if his was a Galaxie XL. I was young and always thought it was an LTD. I was always obsessed with engine sizes and I remember the 429 4V sticker on the air cleaner. Also it was a different type of car to me, cause it didn't have a bench seat in a big car like that. You could crawl from the back to front seats with ease.

Back in the '80s, my best bud's dad had an absolutely pristine '75 or '76 LTD. It was a really nice car to ride in. Super quiet and comfy.

It is funny to think, the 429 in the test ran a 17. Imagine the 302 cars. 20s.
So a 14 sec car was blindingly fast. Now everyone inflates it to they were running 11s and 12s with only headers and slicks. lol lies. John Coffee ruled Jerry's Curb Service with a 15.7 78 Z in the late 80s. He took all comers. Beat every Big Block slopar around.

Your on the point of discovery. Quick street cars are slow at the strip. Fast street cars are not slow, but not quick at the strip. The fastest street car in a four county area might be quick at the strip. The fastest street car you ever saw sucks ass at the strip cuz it spins tires for a hundred foot. 95 percent of the quick cars at the strip aint street legal. Five percent are. 0ne percent or less are amc’s Watch out for those. Now gaymcers are different. 97 percent dont run. 2 percent do but just barelt 1 percent might have a decent runner. And that one percent accounts for .001 percent of everything that ever got a timeslip.
