Looks like the Whorenet is making just a touch more power on the top end, but the Duster is either a better combo, has a better driver, or both. Pretty good matchup.

Whorenet pushed more mph one run. Funny considering how mild a 360 is compared to a factory engine built as High Performance only. No 340 2bbls, or ever came in a Truck, special High Performance vehicles only.

Those guys really have the tricks figured out on the 340's, several of them really get down. I'm surprised tech hasn't put the brakes on the shenanigans. Larry Weymouth's Hornet is no slouch either. He openly admits 390 hp on the dyno. It has smaller rod journals and longer rods, lightweight internals, free flows on both sides instead of just the driver's like factory. He was running a 2.43 trans and I believe he said 4.44 gear this last year (I know the video said 4.10, but he got that from the PSMCDR website spreadsheet from the year before). Major traction problems kept him from running up to it's potential.

Yep, Larry is a great dude. I enjoy hanging out with him at the race every year. He's not afraid to drive the snot out of that car either!

I wonder if he could get away with sneaking a 401 into his Whorenet? Not that it would help him off the line.

I watched the video a couple more times. That Duster is dialed in. Watch it lift when it leaves the line, the weight transfer is perfect, and his times are pretty consistent.

Thats cuz he has his chassis sorted out with all kinds of Non stock cheating. If your not hooked up you are NOT racing. You are LOSING! big difference is the duster is ottomatic with 4.30 gears... never underestimate the advantage of the torque convertor!!!

That Duster is pretty light with driver. They've done some work in that department.... I wonder what the driver weighs.

Of course, all the quickest cars are autos. I will say that all the Dusters I looked at closely went to great extremes to purpose build to the max the rules allow, including heater/radio delete on most. Pretty cool cars. I'm not quite as committed, since I already have a stupid expensive race car. The AMX is much more valuable left closer to stock and street worthy, or at least stuff that can easily be returned to stock. Especially since the Pure Stocks award no money, trophy, t-shirt, jack squat. It is just to have fun with these old cars and drive them as they were meant to be, nothing more.
