This year has me thinkin a lot. Which is dangerous and unhealthy i know. And depressing. But anyways i just thought it completely inapropriate and futile to mention the hideout is a great place to hide and has always been full of a fine collection of characters to hideout with and i have enjoyed it a great deal.

True all dat. Thanks Reb for having us! I don't know why but facepage seems to rub me the wrong way. Plus,I can't find something that has been posted up when I want to. Over here, I can post up whatever I want and most of you guys are on the same,,, page. Yep, it is a good one all right.

I prefer a forum format to the wacky FB stuff. I am still on FB as a lot of other people and racers are on there. At least here there are some rules and you can find stuff you are looking for.

I tried FB, and hated it. Forums are more fun and better sources of info anyway.

Recollecting memories of the preceding small forums that were the genesis of this site is fun. I know a lot of folks here dont know the history, and the evolution is becoming hazy now. It all happened years ago when fran closed down his amc site. I suppose it would be true to say that a small group of us like minded people floated away from that shipwreck, and i think the first place that popped up for us dissenters was a site engineered by a guy i knew named “ greybeard” of which the original name escapes me , in his eyes it was to be yhe new big amc site, but was eclipsed by dillb’s site and so was soon renamed and recreated by greybeard to “ the texas outsiders” which was a site for a racing organization greybeard was a member of. Soon i think i was instrumental in getting us amc loudmouths banned or booted or something and we were off to new venues, i think bart mangrum aka badassgremlin or something akin to that started a small forum. The core trio of rebel, captain awesome and me, “ spud” or “ spudster” have remained associated through a few incarnations of my forum ”spudsgarage” and reb’s forum “ nutswingers anonymous” to today and rebs hideout. The trail of irreverence, ridicule and destruction is obscure now, but the fun and comedy had been impressive. So the whole memory Is something that interests me, and if you have memories of the trip feel free to retell them. “ the texas outsiders” nostalgia drag racing is a group on facebook now. I’m not a facebooker, so i havent seen it. I had a ( very) brief forray racing with them. (The head honcho was an extremely abrasive alcoholic )

I remember GreyBeard's place.....
That Brandon kid originally started what became DillyBs after Fran shut down as I recall.
I think shit really got rolling with Mikey's forum with the trashed or be trashed. So many on this forum were on there. Dan Curtis helped form that group with a mutual dislike of him and his ego.

I didn't post much at Fran's joint. The first really fun one for me was Bart's joint. Bart got kinda butthurt I think when spud started his thing, and shortly after, Mikey started his. He never did post up much at spud's, Mike's, or here. Bart's Gremlin site and spud's garage were a lot of fun. Mikey's was the best AMC specific joint going for a few years. He drew in a lot of the real racers, so we had tons of good tech to go with our free-for-all fun. It was about the time Mike's joint started to fade that I started this one. So far it's been pretty good. It would probably be better if I were to actually do something with my AMC products other than perpetuating the growth of mosses and lichens. And rust.

My amc adventures to a turn to nowheresville for several years also. Now i sieze the day. Life is shorter than i once thought. I think mikey and me went thru the same shit at the same time doing the divorce thing. I think he had a new wife and had less interest or time for his website. I had a greedy lawyer to support.

He did lose interest awful fast. He finished up that 500ci, 1000hp thumper, and immediately put it on the market. Still did GAD for a few more years though.
