Unless it was from someone I know and trust, I wouldn't even consider it

Pretty much that. Unless spud or Rick built it, it's parts.

What LB and Reb said, and my point exactly in Spud's Jav thread. Most rebuild/built mills are junk. So... $50. Buying someone else's nightmare. 401 part 7 take 16.

It might be gold but it might be gaymc’d into the scrapheap.

Not to make his head any bigger, after knowing him for X years I trust Rick no second thoughts.

He'll be lucky to get half of that. The reality of cars in general, AMC in particular.

"used" is half or less
Shit, the kid snagged a stock crate Chebby off the Junk Table. Normally $2350, got it for $1000 cause of a dented valve cover. He got lucky. The exact mill showed up a few weeks later for $1600.
The Junk Table was super Cheap once it got start back up after being shut down for Covid. Told the kid to strike while the iron is hot. He passed on a few things he shoulda bought. BUT he did score two set of full roller rockers for 302 Ford, $40 a set and a few other great deals.
Later he coulda got a 396 small block from Blueprint for about $800 off, but that wasn't a good enough deal for him. lol

This doesn't make sense from that ad. "Please don’t low ball me. Need to sell"
Welp, if you NEED to sell, you take what you can get. 2k, so be it. Otherwise push the motor into the tent you two will be sleeping in.
