I lost more tools than I can remember through the holes in the rear quarters.

Yep its got a decent body. Smoother than my green 69 “ eternal” javelin. Its not gonna get paint. Other than rattlecan black. I got a glass ram air hood , glass front bumper and a 69 camaro chin spoiler. Its gonna be pretty cool . Think this one will have a five speed of some kind. Going for drivability and max milage from a 304... 2.87 rear axle is ready to snap in, buti gotta get springs. The springs in it now are totally wasted.

A good deal on a shitty axle is not exactly a good deal unless its free. I would invest some fuel and time for a good free amc 20, even if it did have a useless ratio. Now personally i havent found and early javelin/ hornet/ gremlin width model 20’s with a ratio less than 2.87. I have seen the model 15 with 2.73 ratio. But thats just what i have witnessed. Not saying it never happened. I wouldnt mind having a lower numerical ratio than 2.87 in a model 20 ring and pinion , but that would take a different carrier.

DammitSpud, we live too far apart! I have a stack of 20's out of '68-'70 AMXs and Javelins and you couldn't get more than a 2.87 in those. The later V8 Hornets, Concords etc offered a 2.56 which will bolt in and be within 1/4" in width of the early Javelin and AMX. Or you could just swap the pig out. In the Jeep and Hummer world they offered a 2.73 which is what I used in my AMX with the DN 5 spd. And You could get a Torrington unit if you wanted to try one of those. Yea, I have one.

Avery's little Brother has a 2.21 AMC 15 (light weight) he's not going to be using soon. Or so he claims that's the ratio. Maybe he's swapping 2.73 for 2.73.

Rick brings up a unfortunate point, that rebs hideout has a dozen of the most far flung amcers in the country. I know it means nothing but texas is always looking for a few more amcers and theres plenty of affordable real estate. And hopefully soon we will be a sovereign country independant of communist china. Either that or a bloody civil war zone. Come and join the war! Of course if you already live in a red state you may soon have a war of your own. But seriously folks, if i can make up my mind to waste money on a five gear for this bucket, a 2.87 or less isn’t gonna work. I do happent to have a fresh 3.54 trutrac ready to go. I think its the one i dropped on my hand last year and pinched a chunk of spud loose on my finger. Dam that sucked. But it might be pretty good with an overdrive. Gotta crunch the numbers on that. I also have a new 3.32 gearset and a twin grip that would be pretty nice. I kinda dont want a posi since they are squirrelly in the wet. The car has a 3.15 open diff in it now. Actually that would be ok with a 2.9 or 3.27 first gear and have a steep overdrive. Well maybe too steep . Decisions decisions. Yaknow i do have a richmond five speed that would be nice to do something with... overkill and noisey but...

Shit never sells cheap at Copart, and their fees are stiff. I don't know how anyone could make money buying cars there.

Rick gets a frowny face for danglin that sack of crack in front of this addict. Quit fucking up my pipedream thread rick😂. So i got this lame stock 70 360. It has an ottomatic flywheel but i have some 360 flywheels... it ran like a top ten years ago. I think it might be my target roadkill engine. One of my 304 blocks has a cracked headbolthole...boohoo. The other one is worn heavily in the bores and needs rebuilt. Not into that kinda investment. 350 chevy and tko is still an option. Still crunching numbers on trans/ ovetdrive/ gear ratio options. The richmond is ok with a 2.87, toploader is as good or better. A 3.15 or deeper is ok for something with overdrive, really depends a lot on what the ovetdrive ratio is. A world class t-5 is cheap but only 300 ft lbs so it would have to be driven respectfully. I get road rage sometimes so i’m not sure thats a foolproof choice. As a chronic procrastinator sometimes i just spin the wheel of poverty and go with it. Gotta stay focused i always go towards making something too much a hotrod. I need to get working on something else to buy precious overthinking and procrastination time.
