Wow. So i guess i’m not missing a thing not being into the gaymo🤣 and your machine was a great one before you started turning it into a gem. She’s really fantastic! Points for gAyMO

I cant help but noticing you are incorporating a liberal amount of reasonably extreme performance mods. The rear gears are pretty much full race. What is your general intent for this machine? All around badassness casually concealed under general stockness?

Thanks guys. Yeah, spending too much time lurking on the stock appearing drag racers page and doing a few of the FAST races has given me some bad ideas. I think it would be fun to print some 11 second time slips while looking largely stock. I'm still collecting parts for a stroker build, so a more mild engine may have to do for now.

at least now you have Free Flows to work with.... and these Cars can be pretty light, like my stripper with 4 wheel drum, manual steering and brakes.....

Nothing too exciting on this car lately. I'm still collecting parts for a stroker engine for "someday", but in the meantime I cleaned up the original 360 short block out of the car. I have another 390 sitting around from the 70 AMX, from before the max effort "pure stock" build that is in it now. So, I decided to use the 291c heads and 70 intake manifold on the 74 360 to help it breathe and bump the compression a bit. The heads needed a freshen after sitting for a few years, and I finally got them back from the machinist. It also got a nice original 401 cam I had on the shelf. Just about done with the engine, and I hope to get the 74 moving under it's own power again soon. 20220925_131414 by Joe Pinsoneault, on Flickr 20220925_142921 by Joe Pinsoneault, on Flickr

Welp, I have the stockish 360 build ready to drop into the 74. Not sure I'll get it done this weekend though. I tried testing the Mustang at mid-Michigan last Sunday unsuccessfully. 5 hour round trip, 100 bucks in diesel and 30 bucks entry, and a 16 volt racing battery that wouldn't hold enough charge to make a pass. It didn't help that I left the car in the trailer for several months with the battery switch on. So, one new $400 battery and I'm ready to try again. Sometime. Then, I want to swap out the 2.64 T10 from the 70 for either the old 2.43 or the Liberty 2.72 ratio for the F.A.S.T. race at US131 on October 28th. So many activities! At least I have the right color white spark plug wire looms. 20221008_134538 by Joe Pinsoneault, on Flickr 20221008_133552 by Joe Pinsoneault, on Flickr 20221008_133509 by Joe Pinsoneault, on Flickr

I dropped the 360 in and did a few victory laps around the block. I gotta say, it's a really nice running pump gas "mill". It did have a problem with staying running after the key was turned off because of a faulty brand new starter solenoid from APD. A quick call got me a reaming from Doug as expected, so the old original solenoid will due until I round up another. I still need to work on the alignment and get some help reinstalling the hood, but it sure does drive nice. 20221013_192231 by Joe Pinsoneault, on Flickr

You running a 4350 carb? Mine likes to randomly flood the motor out when I'm driving slow in town.
