Hi guys I was wondering if anyone had ever built a AMC AMX GT concept clone that concept is cool as hell I would think someone must have done it since it should be fairly easy to take a Gremlin and a Javelin/AMX front end and fuse them together

It would be cool to see an AMC 401 going in it, but logistically speaking, the LS motor makes more sense. No need to source a core and get it rebuilt, then just try and find a modern transmission, and all of the driven accessories and their mounting brackets. That alone would be a major project for those of us who bleed the red white and blue, but especially so for a non-AMC familiar build house.

I thought about it even pulled out some frame books, it looks like you could do a basic clip job between a Gremlin and early Jav/AMX I'd run a 360 5 speed a 8.8 ford rear with a CF susp. maybe in the future, need to finish the wifes Spirit then build a fresh 360 for the kids Javeln to replace the 7 cyl that he's happy with, and maybe put the 5 speed back in my AMX with some upgrades (all the teeth fell off third gear must be a Ford issue)

The AMC drive train would be a bolt in and it all would fit. All of the pullys and brackets are easy to find. I would run a 360/383 stroker along with a Jeep AW4 automatic overdrive in it if it were me. Or maybe a 5 speed would be fun. The parts are all out there. It doesn't make any sense to bastardize it with a LS engine to me..

Yeah, but what about the A/C, PS, alternator(the factory AMC setup sucked, IMO) EFI, and so on? You and a few others here might know where to source everything in a fairly painless manner, but I doubt anyone in that build shop does.

Oh man Reb, you're letting us down...
I'm with Rick on this one. If these guys wanted to build a Camaro with an AMC skin, they should have just opened up their 10,000 page Camaro catalog and built the (almost) real thing. Anybody whining about not being able to find some bracket after doing all of that fabrication work, needs to be slapped silly!
But hey... that's just me!

I hate LS crap. Can't people show their talents anymore?

I couldn't stand it, I had to comment on the Hemmings site. I did try to be diplomatic about it, but also make a point. I ran out of room to make another point of saying, it's not like this thing is going to be a daily driver so why not have an antique thumping AMC in it......

Plenty of aftermarket EFI, ac run a Sandan compreser and aftermarket the rest of the AC system and run a delco alt with 5 speed or auto overdrive I think it would be a cool driver. out of my curent budget right now. but I am planing to quit my job and start robbing banks for my next job not sure, I'll let you guys know after a few more beers. 55 hours this week and need to be there at 7am I wish these people in FL would learn how to drive
