A quote from FSJunkie from the Mecum AMC collection thread...... "I know a lot of other young car people like me with the same attitudes as me, but we are not exactly normal."
"Honestly, at age 27, I am so burned out on muscle cars. I don't know how many there are like me, though. I know a lot of other young car people like me with the same attitudes as me, but we are not exactly normal.
I was parked near an original 1966 Charger HEMI at a car show a few weeks ago and I was more interested in the brown late 60's Buick Skylark convertible next to it. I respected the Charger for what it was because I know how rare they were, but the Skylark was more "my kind of car" that I wanted to look over. I'd seen Chargers before, but this was my first time seeing an A-body Skylark convertible and I thought it was beautifully new and undiscovered compared to the Charger.
I look for cars I don't see every day, were prestigious in their day, or were built with exceptional quality or engineering. That is what excites me. I mostly like pre-1965 cars, including the full classics. My post-1965 interests are mostly in large luxury cars like Cadillacs and Imperials or other non-muscle cars. I could not care less about a red Chevelle and honestly even the AMC muscle cars do little for me.
When I watch the auctions on TV I usually record them so I can fast-forward through the hours of muscle cars until I see something that interests me... I get really pissed off when they show yet another red Chevelle on TV then cut to commercial when the 1926 Pierce-Arrow rolls up to the block."

They save the “ rare” cars and scrap the common cars. Car shows are mustangs camaros and corvettes.

He is right about not being normal. But for once I have to agree with him. I'm sick of seeing the same old shit. A 78 LeSabre is more exciting to me than any Muscle Car anymore.
One rolled by the house the other day, and I jizzed a little. Haven't seen one in 15 years.

I'm right there with being a little tired of looking at Camaros, Mustangs, and Tri 5 Chevies.

I'm right there with being a little tired of looking at Camaros, Mustangs, and Tri 5 Chevies. I was tired of that by 1979. Saw a red primered 49 Ford driving through Toledo last night. It looked exactly like my Uncles did back in the day. Lowered in the back, fender skirts, spot light and looked to be within 2 weeks before paint but has been that way for 5 years. I drove by him, honked and gave him a thumbs up.
